Hello. I am thinking of doing a kinda hypothetical(and admittedly kind of for fun) math/logic project that would use information from the court proceedings and decisions of certain judges to identify bias, and recommend parts of the case or cases that judges should recuse themselves from. This would be for criminal courts. I would want to analyze the court transcripts and opinions through a semantic web that relates certain language(based on the language that the judges tend to use to describe certain things) to common/cultural stereotypes, and/or relate the language they use about gender/decisions on similar cases as they vary on gender to assign them their own stereotypes.

It would have 2 axioms:

  • Men are viewed as less worthy of protection or assistance
  • Men are given more opportunities and viewed as being more suited to take social action

Other stereotypes could be identified based on the judge's rulings, as explained previously. I would also want to use a method of control to account for the fact that the more complex and far-fetched the association between language/cases and stereotypes is, the more likely it is that the bias will be due to some other factor, but I'm not sure quite how to do this.

But that's about all I know, I'm kinda lazy on stuff like this tbh, and kinda barren of further ideas. Do any of you have expertise/ideas to share on this? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
