I think it is at the same time not as extreme and more complex (which makes it extreme after all). Some of the rules for men are: take initiative but not too fast and too quick, leave her free but without seeming uninterested, have serious, personal talks but without killing the erotic tension, don't be afraid to show you're a man with heterosexual desires but without looking needy, and above all: give the impression all these rules don't bother you and you're completely yourself.

This seems hyperbolic.

This is maybe the opinion of a few isolated feminists who have somewhat of a voice online, but in reality women scrutinize themselves to a high degree. But yes they mostly do expect their men to be above them.
