So many posts from women are them mad that men approach them offering help. Common situations are in hardware stores, and if it’s perceived a woman is having car trouble. Their thought is “men are trying to be hero’s and feel good about themselves; or trying to find an opportunity to tell a woman what to do; or teach a woman something”. One woman even commented that if she’s at Lowe’s and a man approaches her offering help; she immediately pulls out her phone and starts recording him yelling “get away from me I don’t want your help”.

Yesterday I was driving through town and noticed a car was broke down on the side of the road. It was raining/snowing/cold and a woman was laying in the snow under the rear of the car doing something with the muffler. I grew up in a small town and you helped anyone that needed help; gender didn’t matter. I really wanted to offer help as I have a tarp she could have layed on instead of the snow and I’ve got some tools they she might have needed. But I didn’t stop to help and just kept driving. I’ve felt bad about this ever since it happened because it’s not who I am; but it’s clear woman view any kind of help from a man as some form of misogyny. Was I wrong? Should I have stopped and risked being perceived as a threat/nuisance/misogynist?
