That's exactly right. When people are ideologically possessed, critical thinking ceases to contribute to their conclusions, and ideological dogma takes its place. Those people actually cannot help it, and once an ideology has caught somebody it's very difficult for them to escape it.

Those who realise what's happening and try to wrench themselves out of the brainwashing inevitably suffer cognitive dissonance in the process, and that's somewhat painful. It's way more comfortable to remain ideologically possessed and keep your ingroup than to suffer the discomfort of abandoning the dogma.

I think it is partially ideological blindness but more of selective empathy/ sociopathy. Which is basically when people treat certain people with less/ more empathy than other groups of people because said people are seen as inherently less deserving.

For example a lot of feminism/ identity politics ideology does say that it is okay do make fun of, bully and degenerate someone because of an intrinsic characteristic as long as they are not a member of an oppressed group. In feminist ideology men are seen as "oppressors" regardless of who they individually so degenerating them is okay because its just "punching up" at a more powerful group.

Most people not subscribed to identity politics would say that it is wrong to degenerate someone because of an intrinsic characteristic regardless of what group they are because that is simply basic respect; treat people how you would like to be treated.

For as long as there has been laid labour, men have suffered higher mortality rates than women. Now we have a temporary situation where women make up majority care workers and are therefore in certain industries more likely to be working on the front line. We salute them, but why has mortality rates at work been ignored as an issue for centuries until the 2 months it affects women slightly more???

It's because they somehow realize most women can't function without men. That's why like when the drug warlords in Africa kill mostly men, they say "women most affected. Women forced to do men's job/ don't have men to provide for them"
