Pro tip: In some states, a woman can simply say you are the father, but he can beat it if he shows up in court, if not, the court can put you on the hook, even if you barely know her,if at all! Some lawyers even advise single mothers to send the notice to appear( through the court) to the wrong address on purpose! Be careful, Men!

Can’t men disown their child if he doesn’t want her to keep the baby? It’s pretty fucked if she wants to keep it and he doesn’t but he has to pay child support.

The only problem is is that woman are usually pushed into keeping a child they don’t want by family and medical professionals. They are very vulnerable and emotional during this time so making the right permanent decision is very difficult. Both men and woman really.

This is probably going to be an unpopular take. I get the whole argument that women have choice when it comes to abortion but men don’t when it comes to support. I don’t get it. The thing about the excuse they use that government doesn’t want to pick up the tab for single moms is flimsy. If the government got out of marriage and relationships in general men would naturally move to fill the role of government. However, that would mean finally keeping women in check for once and I guess that’s the real issue here.

Could someone explain to me how this works in USA - the woman tells the man she is pregnant and the man tells her (lets say when she is 8 weeks pregnant) that he doesn't want anything to do with the baby. Does he still have to pay child support if the woman decides to keep the kid?
