Not really.

I am continually amazed that people really don't get the "how's" & "why's" of "censorship" in Orwell's 1984.

First of all it really wasn't "censorship" in the sense that we're seeing now; because there was no such thing as a "free press" or "private companies" (much less an "internet") -- in 1984 all "news" was entirely (100%) government controlled -- it was much more like say the Soviet Union (Pravda, etc), or the milieu control of a "cult"... in other words it wasn't about "censoring" any specific topics as it was about entirely fictitious (pre-filtered, "vetted," government employee written) "news" (and indeed ALL "media").

-- Moreover the social structure was such that the "Big Brother" government really didn't give a shit about MOST of the populations' "thoughts", to wit:

The class hierarchy of Oceania has three levels:

(I) the upper-class Inner Party, the elite ruling minority, who make up 2% of the population.

(II) the middle-class Outer Party, who make up 13% of the population.

(III) the lower-class Proletariat, who make up 85% of the population and represent the uneducated working class.

That lower class was not only "uneducated" it was kept (essentially if not entirely) illiterate -- Orwell isn't entirely explicit (mainly because the story revolves around a protaganist and secondary characters that are all government employees and members of the "Outer Party") about the proles (low) level of education, but presumably if they learn to read/write at all, it is a dialect that basically prevents them from comprehending anything more complex than a menu or some machine operating instructions.

Point is, the "control" of the media (or "censorship" if you wish) was to CONTROL the "middle class" the "outer party" members like Winston Smith.

-- The "proles" were the equivalent of a "slave" class. (IOW proles were not convicted of "thoughtcrime" they are not monitored, not really the target of propaganda, etc). To wit:

in 1984, Orwell describes Oceania's society as divided into three distinct classes: Inner Party, Outer Party and proles (with their own upper, middle and lower classes). The proles constitute 85% of the population; they receive little education, work at manual labour, live in poverty (although in having privacy and anonymity, qualitatively better off than Outer Party members), and usually die by the age of sixty.

As the Party slogan put it: 'Proles and animals are free.' — Part 1, Chapter 7

The proles were treated more like "animals" (herd animals, pets, etc) and as such were "controlled" by much simpler tactics -- food, drugs, sex, etc. -- and they really didn't concern themselves with any of the "politics" (at least no more than the COWS & PIGS, or DOGS & CATS of the households in the US do).

This isn't 1984, this is something even more sinister. In 1984 (the book, not the year) it was the government that was doing the oppressing of the populace. In the current environment, it's the populace that is doing the oppressing themselves, and the people at the top simply need to sit back and watch. This is not a boot stamping on a human face forever, this is the people punching themselves in the face while shouting "stop hitting yourself".

Basically, I had this email exchange after a friend sent me one of his videos:

I hate google, but they are a private company, they do whatever they want with the content that users publish in their plataform. People need to find alternatives for free speech other than crony-corporations. This is why blockchain was created, to descentralize and free people from central powers.

Shadow censorship definitely exists. Not sure if that's a term that people understand, but I use it like shadow banning on reddit.

A lot of these videos are available if you go to their linked webpage, but they are censored if you search for them and are censored in recommended videos section. YouTube censors the recommended video list because they don't want users to go down the red pill rabbit hole.

Red pill videos also frequently don't show up on the sub feed. Red pill content creators therefore suffer poor video views and their content also demonitized. This is to discourage them from making these videos.

Youtube used to be different to TV, it used to be about people making indie videos. Now everything is shifting to high production value Hollywood style videos, with fake personalities and drama. It is literally becoming TV, especially when you consider the launch on YouTubeTV streaming service.

What a scary time to live in. Getting the first dose of red pill will be very hard in the future.

Propaganda has been around forever. It's more blatant on the right with the Limbaugh's of the world and Faux News. I'll bet there are fools paddling around Houston right now that firmly believe global climate change is left wing "Fake News".

The propaganda is on the left as well with the 3rd wave feminasties, Rape Culture, the "wage gap", etc. But here in the US we are a long way from places like Russia or North Korea or China. State controlled medias and true censorship. At least the info here is out there floating around the internet, readily accessible if you are willing to look and still have a shred of critical thinking ability.

Youtube is a business, not a democracy. Free speech doesn't apply there. They are allowed to do whatever it takes for their business interests. Videos like that drive advertisers away, their source of revenue, away. If you have a problem with it you can always make your own videostreaming site.
