Gentlemen, most of what we see here in this thread is bitching and complaints. And I fully understand the necessity of such venting and don't judge it. But I feel it incumbent to add something positive, something for others to read and smile at. Because godammit we need more examples of positivity and affirmations of our life choice.

For about a decade and a half I had my first PC. Built her as my first big project as a certified adult™. The only thing I ever had to replace was the video card. Got an Nvidia Gigabyte GTX 560ti when that thing was still new, and man did I love it. I managed to keep that thing alive until recently when after a couple years of life support, it finally just up and died.

I was freaking out because for me? My PC is to me what my dad's Chevelle was to him. It's my baby. My pride and joy. And I loved it dearly. I realized that everything in the case, and even the case itself was so outdated I'd just have to make a completely new rig. I was losing my shit on how much this would cost and then the realization hit me. "Dude, you're single. No kids. You live frugally, and you've got a nice chunk of change just begging to be burned."

Did a couple hours research on parts and conferred with tech-savvy friends, went out and got everything that day. Not the next, not a week from then on payday, not after checking my balance. Right. Fucking. Then. Because I knew I had the money.

And yeah, I spent over two bones on it, but that's roughly about what I spent on my first baby. I build shit to last and goddamn did she last. So, tonight I sit here on my new PC, 1080ti purring contently as I sip on my whiskey, savoring this moment.

Remember, your money is yours and no one else's. And money (the kind of money after the cost of living) doesn't mean shit if it can't buy you things that make you happy.

Make that paper, you magnificent sonsabitches. Earn it and make the world weep for envy at your joy.
