There are STD's that can live out in the wild, or more or less water if not treated properly. Here is the thing though if that's happening your water plant, or whomever is not doing their jobs at this day and age STD goes through a water plant you've got bigger problems.

Yeah, but swimming pools are chlorinated/otherwise treated with a lot of safety margin to prevent that. In the US you are probably more likely to get mild chemical irritation, etc, due to accidental overtreatment, than to get a contagious disease from undertreatment.

You'd be surprised, but not STD related, but you can get sick quickly from taking in bad water depending on what it is.
