In my case I often was the one starting up the fight. Being used when the person feels like it or needs you and treated like trash the rest of the time without any exception, being lied to constantly and having to play retarded games gets a bit tiring over time (not counting crap like manipulation and gaslighting that are par the course too), so I'd give them a chance to discuss it and explain themselves since I still cared, which always ended up in them blowing up instead of discussing the problems like an adult would. Yeah no, sorry, not your emotional tampon or dancing monkey used to pass time and that's it, particularly not without even saying a word about it. I can't even imagine how it's like after being married where you pretty much HAVE TO shut up and deal with everything thrown at you without any remark because otherwise >divorce rape. That's beyond miserable. Even if you WANT to defend yourself and want some respect you just can't, because now half of your life is in the balance too.

Guess I was BP but not enough of a doormat to accept everything? (although I already did accept way too much at the time, so the amount they want you to accept while shutting your mouth is just scary)

That's why I always wake up very early when I sleep at my girlfriend's. I had told her that I need to start my day by taking time to meditate and relax, needless to say after a few weeks it was all about her being annoyed at whatever just because. I leave at 5:15 every time, do whatever the fuck I want until I have to go to work, without having to listen to a constant rant or even better without feeling the need to get engaged in a fight she may want to start.
Of course she does not like it, but I honestly don't care. If she is still with me after many months, it means she is OK with it deep inside.

So my most recent ex of who I have a 20 yr on again off again history with (That's a whole other story ) likes to kick back a few in her down time. She has a particular girlfriend with whom they like to go to their favorite pub every Friday after work. They have an inside joke between the two of them of where they call each other "the epic girls". I had heard it a bunch of times and really paid no attention to it as I found it silly and something between them. Well one particular day it is brought up again in a story she is telling me. Mind you this is all thru text. So I finally asked her what the hell was the epic girls. She told me there might be a story behind that and that it was a nickname they got at their pub before we had started dating again. So naturally I asked the story behind it. She ignores me for a couple hours. I was like ok I know she's at work, whatever. She then answers that it doesn't matter it's just a story. I was like don't tell me there's a story and then not tell me about it. Just don't even tell me to begin with, because now I think you're hiding something. She responds what else is there to know, it's just a story. I suffer from Ptsd and high anxiety and sometimes I react in not a cool manner before I realize I'm doing it. My mind went wild with how they got their nickname and I said a few things that I shouldn't have. In the end I was the one apologizing for it all... later I finally awoken to the fact she set me up for a stupid argument over nothing really and I walked right into it. It baffled me for awhile until I realized it was one of those fucking things women do to knock you down a few pegs.
