The hamster always explodes at that question. Mind you, for a woman, requesting a height minimum, AKA something nobody can do a thing about is perfectly fine and hearing a weight minimum AKA something she can control, the screeching starts
[–]Dawnguards37 points38 points39 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
If men would start exploding on such questions it would be much better for everyone.
[–]Fantoche_Dreemurr42 points43 points44 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Nah, replying by "How much do you weight?" is by far the best reply
[–]Aza3838 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yep people shouldn't be deceptive. If height matters to her then there is nothing wrong with asking the question, it lets you know what she values and you won't waste your time if your short. Just like he should ask what her weight is if he prefers a fit woman.
[–]Fantoche_Dreemurr9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah but you know that'll never work. The woman will pretend to be offended

"Fat shaming" trumps EVERYTHING in their mind. Even fucking cancer (the real one). A fatty threw a big tantrum on an official ad for cancer prevention saying that obesity leads to cancer and said that "depression caused by fat shaming because of what assholes like you are doing like this cause more death than cancer and destroy people's mind (no, not people, just fatass, and even then only fatass like you. Never forgetthat fat shaming doesn't apply to men) etc.
Basically, being fat is something that should never, ever be questioned. Because even talking about it, even for health reasons, means that you are an oppressor. You shouldn't care about it or even see it (...welll, they're making this last part quite hard)

This is so very true. I have a good female friend who is obese. She is not attracted to men who are under 6 feet tall and who are out of shape. Large women are just as shallow as any other woman. Just because they are fat doesn't mean that their female nature disappears. The hypocrisy with fat women is truly stunning.
[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 7 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link
She could get her 6' man if only she'd put down the fork and stop acting like an entitled bitch.
[–]evilhomer7536 points37 points38 points 7 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link
I tell her that all the time. She responds by saying that men should love her for who she is and not for what she looks like. There is a reason why she is 42 years old, single with no children and is depressed. She refuses to be realistic and date in her league or to improve herself so she can attract the type of men she is naturally attracted to. In fact, she doesn't like when I even mention the subject of "leagues". She is my good friend, I truly care about and like her. She has a very cool personality and a good heart. However, she is extremely hypocritical and unrealistic and doesn't like when I point this fact out and give her suggestions on how to get a guy and how be in a healthy relationship. Obviously she is not ready to deal with the realities of life.
[–][deleted] 24 points25 points26 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She's a casualty of our screwed up culture.
These are strange times.
[–]evilhomer7520 points21 points22 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
It's very true. A lot of these women have been socially programmed to be this way. It's tragic for both genders and has been a great contributing factor to the demise of healthy relationships, marriage and the family unit. There is nothing wrong with having standards as long as those standards are realistic based off what an individual themselves can provide.
I'm am self-aware and honest enough to know that I'm an average guy, on all levels. I wasn't always this way. I only started being honest with myself the past few years. Because of this, I only pursue women that are in my league. Unfortunately a lot of these women are not honest with themselves and are not self aware about which league they are in. They are delusional. As a result, not many people are getting into long term and healthy relationships.
They are delusional because men and society at large encourage them to be.
[–]gettinglittytitty4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
how does that work? she wants men to love her not for what she looks but wont do the same for men? how? what?
[–]evilhomer754 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Like I said, she is hypocritical and that's why she is still single and childless. Obviously she is not yet ready to deal in reality, honesty and self-awareness. Until she does, she will continue to be single, childless, lonely and depressed. She could very easily change her circumstances by making personal changes and or by dealing in reality and being honest with herself. Maybe one day she will be ready.
[–]Umas154 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
" childless " I believe that at 42 that train has left the station some time ago
[–]evilhomer75-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not necessarily. I know several women who have had kids well into the ages 44,45 and 47. All kids turned out to be fine. Not ideal, but it's most definitely a possibility.
[–]Umas150 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Even if so, those are exceptions to the rule. Not to mention that if she is 42 and SINGLE it's simply too late. If she was married for 20 years, had already 2 kids and wanted third one - then she would had some chances. But in a way you are describing her(shallow thins like height are still so important for her) I think she is simply delusional. After so many years even if she found some average guy interested in her, she would get bored because she is waiting for prince in shining armour.
[–]evilhomer750 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's true. It's sad, because she is robing herself of a very important dream- to be married, have children and to have a family. All because she simply can not be honest with herself and be with a guy who is on her level. I blame social media, modern social programming and other men.
There were a few situations when pretty good looking guys slept with my friend because they were extremely horny and didn't have any other options late at night. This gave my friend a false hope/impression that she could land a guy who was out of her league. I kindly explained to her that there is a difference between a guy wanting to fuck you just because he is super horny and has no other quick options and a guy actually wanting to be with you and date you. Unfortunately she simply could not wrap her head around the concept and be honest with herself and she situation. To be honest, I feel bad for both genders. Modern society is fucked up and our priorities out of wack.
love her for who she is and not for what she looks like.
Being fat is part of who she is, because it shows that she has no self-control or will.
[–]XavierMalory11 points12 points13 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The short kids rly have short fuses. I hate how womens focus on height. But it's not entirely comparable with weight. Weight says something about your character and life style, height is more about genes. I can't rly blame women for caring for the genetics given that that is the female role in sexual selection. But I rly don't get why height is so important, I'm above 6'3 and I hate it when people comment on my height. Especially women who is flirtatious, they never bother getting to know you, all that matters are the height, like your not a person at all.
[–]Andyive19 points20 points21 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ok but a woman who takes care of themselves says a lot more about the person than a man who can’t control his height
[–]Svartanatten7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That was one of my points. Beeing healthy is better than being tall, it says something about your life style.
[–]RogerStarbucks10 points11 points12 points 7 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link
On the flipside, if you're a man shorter than 5'8 they don't flirt with you and treat you like you're not a person at all ... to the majority of women you simply aren't a person at all, you don't exist, you're equivalent to a nearby insect.
I'm 5'10 so I'm in the limbo zone between 'the datable' and 'the worthless', so I get a good perspective on both and it's pretty sad how prevalent height discrimination is. There's an ad out now for a tax service where a woman talks to a CPA on her phone and tells her 'nows a great time, and please take your time' ... why? because she was trying to blow off an average looking guy that approached to talk to her, but sure enough he was shorter than she was. Granted he was saying stupid shit, but he was being nice not an asshole. Replace the short guy with a 6'2'' guy saying the exact same shit and she's definitely putting that phone down. You know damn well that ad agency was sitting in a room casting that role of the annoying bachelor telling each other 'she needs to be uninterested so he needs to be short, preferably shorter than her'
Reverse the genders and make it a fat girl. The internet would bleed.
[–]Svartanatten1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They didn't rly flirt with me often, only some girls that were more fixitated on height than normal. Not very flattering, since it's not related to my character.
Honestly even the height thing is just a parroted buzzword. I'm 5'4", and have no issues with women because of other characteristics. I would obviously never succeed with online dating though.
Women recognize me as short but somehow other things will make them hamster me into a taller dude lool. Any time I mention my height to a woman she looks shocked.

I dont really see a problem with either of the questions, but the first one is equivalent to dicksize, not height. What exactly should be insulting about hair colour?
[–]Tsukikoselenia1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Not really. dick size mostly matter in bed and you are not supposed to see it 24/7. Although I can't think about one right now, there's probably something comparable for women, but I have no idea of what. Breast size have an effect of the person's apearance. If I hate big breasts, seeing DDD all day along will not be the most attractive thing ever to me. While someone's dick size is something you don't notice until sex is involved. In this sense, height is more closely related to this than penis size. It's something supposed to be attractive or not, always on full display, and affecting your look.
[–]EmpressJJ1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I think it‘s hard comparing a clothing size to something like height or weight, because there‘s a ton of people out there who didn‘t even get fitted properly. I read and watched lots of women who used to wear B or C Cups but after real measurement actually would need an F or G cup (because a bra supposedly is there to cover the whole breast). Imo this inconsistency kinda fucks up the whole idea of measuring boobs by bra size, I think society is kinda uneducated in that regards AND support that system by catering mostly A-D cup sizes to stores (at least where I am there‘s rarely a store that sells larger cups than that).
The second issue in my eyes is that boobs aren‘t usually meant to be seen outside the bedroom either. It‘s like comparing crotch size and chest size. Then again, maybe it depends on the woman: surely the question is more relevant if she wears revealing clothes or a large cleavage. If she‘s wearing a lose pullover or unisex shirt, I don‘t see how breasts are different from the dicksize - neither is really present.
Other than that, and as a solution to this whole issue I‘d suggest asking for the with of her chest in cm (or in another measurement, depending where you live) as that is more accurate than asking for a cup size - even if it‘s harder to picture someone‘s breasts then. It would make a lot more sense since it‘s actually in digits, rather than a clothing size which can easily cheated by wearing both too large or too little pieces of fabric. Especially if the majority of women is indeed wearing the wrong clothing size in the first place.
I still don‘t think height and chest width is equal, but I cannot really think of an equivalent at the moment either. There‘s literally nothing much to measure at a man: no boobs, no butt, no hips. So I guess the only relevant thing is the height in the end, since most people claim dicksize to be irrelevant. Feet don‘t really matter either. Noses not much for men either. Maybe hands, but I also don‘t think it represents the same team as boobs. I don‘t think that any woman would care about one‘s natural hair colour either tbh.
[–]Tsukikoselenia0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Clothes are a bad example, if only because of "vanity sizes", but when it comes to breasts it's the only one we have that is commonly used to my knowledge, which is why I went with that. Not to mention that the whole thing is a mess to calculate to begin with, at least here (I'm not from the US, so we don't use the DDD etc system).
Boobs aren't supposed to be seen naked, but you will still see the difference between a large rack and a flat-chested woman, even with clothes on and without a large cleavage. It gives a very different aesthetic; you see the difference between a curvy person and a "flat line" one, clothes or not. Even an unisex shirt doesn't hide that this well if you're "big enough"(and it is the point for men that love large breasts, in other words most of them). The only thing that could hide a very large rack, and this is a MAYBE, are very specific clothes; even a sarashi (the cloth sometimes used for breast compression) isn't enough. Which is another reason height is a good comparison; yeah, you might not be able to see an obvious difference between a B and a C with clothes on, sure, but you will definitely see the difference between an A/B and a DDD. Just like women absolutely want their 6'6 greek god; if he's just very slightly above average, it's not noticeable enough. If someone has large enough breasts, it'll be noticeable in most situations. Clothes or not.
Chest width (I guess you meant circumference? Width is kinda useless in this context because depth matter a lot) is kinda unreliable because of bones and because of the variation in thoracic cage. In fact, IIRC my country use circumference+a letter for the depth, and for women the letter is usually considered the most important part to see if something will fit. You can cheat with clothing size (once again, vanity sizes are a really good example of that since it means that THE SYSTEM itself cheats to make women feel better;example: http://time.com/how-to-fix-vanity-sizing/ "a women’s size 12 in 1958 is now a size 6" ) but we're talking about crap like tinder here; the idea is just to give you a very vague idea of what the other look like, just like a guy could very well lie about his height. No need to be precise if you just want to know if the other person is a fatass or a flat board.
There are tons of things to measure for a guy, once you know how sexual dysmorphism works... The problem is that aside from muscles and basic body type, a lot of "typical attractive guy traits" are more related to things like having a defined jawline, etc (and when it comes to the few things that matters like waist size, most people don't know their own size anyway), which cannot really be measured. Clothes are just used as a so-so example because it's something everyone usually knows because they have to. It's better than nothing.
I don't get the natural hair color at all neither. Maybe if someone just REALLY, REALLY has a type? But that's far too specific. Maybe it's a tackle to feminism since a lot of people here absolutelty hate anything related to tattoo or dyed hair since it damages them? No idea at all, but I'm with you on that one.
[–]XavierMalory0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They're just examples of things a person has no control over (like height) without using deception or trickery. 1. Wonder-bra 2. Hair Dye.
EDIT: This would be similar to if a woman asked me my height, I could say I'm 6'5".
I'd leave off the fact that I'm really only 6'0" but my shoes add 5 inches to my height.
Ah I see. Thought this was more emotionally driven as in „oh my god you are asking about my height? Imma ask for your hair color! Take that bitch!“ because then it would absolutely make no sense as I am sure no woman has a problem telling you whilst it sometimes kinda seems that men kinda have an issue with the height question (source: braincels, this sub, rladvice eg)
[–]XavierMalory0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
No worries. I should also add those qualities are things (like height) that are incredibly shallow and short-sighted if they're the sole factor (or a heavy factor) on one person being with another. I mean seriously, can you imagine someone picking a person based on their physical characteristic first? Looks fade, so there better be a darn good personality there to fill the void later in life.
