Go see Dunkirk instead. We men should support with our dollars the few and far between movies that honestly celebrate masculinity. Dunkirk is one of those films.

I gave up on Hollywood years ago. All of their movies are virtue-signaling tripe that is not worth my 90 minutes. Atomic Blonde looks like your typical feminist, Mary-Sue dogshit, I'll probably wank to the lipstick lesbian scene a couple of times and never give it a second thought.

Apart from some UFC monstrosities, most female "fighters" are incredibly weak and would have trouble beating a completely untrained man. Stop pretending women can fight, they can't.

My 5'6'' fairly athletic 16 year old daughter wanted to take MMA classes so she could defend herself against getting raped. I asked her to wrestle her 5'2'' 12-year-old just-starting-puberty brother, see if she could avoid being pinned. Son has no wrestling experience or training. She was a rag doll on the carpet, he did whatever he wanted with her. Then I asked her if she wanted to wrestle with me. She declined. I asked her if she thought any amount of training would enable her to fight off a 6 foot, 220 pound man wanting to rape her. She admitted it wouldn't.

I told he if she wanted to fight and maybe die, scratch his eyes out and bite off a finger if she could. Offer to give him head and bite his dick off. She would probably die if she did these things, but her attacker would probably get caught and go to jail for life.

Or she could do what nearly all women do, take it, submit, and then move on to live another day.

I told her I didn't want her to have a false sense of security thinking she could go Atomic Blonde and fight a bunch of men off. It isn't going to happen, no matter how much training you have.

Regarding action sequences in films (and on stage), the fact is that most women/actresses SUCK at fake fighting. They just can NOT make a fight look convincing to save their lives. Every once in awhile you get an outlier like Angelina Jolie (see below) or Uma Thurman (Kill Bill), but they are the EXCEPTION.

Anecdote time:

In a stage combat class in grad school, my partner and I performed a scene from Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the early 2000s action film that became noteworthy because of the on-set romance between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie (and we see how that worked out...). My scene partner was a good actress, but--like every single other girl in the class--was NOT good at combat. Thus, myself--a tall, athletic man--had to scale WAY back in order to accommodate a vastly inferior scene partner in fictional hand-to-hand combat. The scene fell flat as a result.

Contrast this with the sword-fighting scene I did, in the same class, from "Hamlet" a couple months later.

For those unfamiliar with the play, the final scene is a formal duel between Hamlet, our hero, and Laertes, a noble, the son of Polonius and brother to Ophelia, both of whom died directly and indirectly (respectively), thanks to Hamlet. The two men fence, using rapiers.

Thanks to my MALE scene partner, he and I were able to really let loose during our presentation, drawing gasps and cheers from the audience as we were really able to go at each other in our full athletic glory. We both had a blast doing it.

Next time you're "privileged" to watch some fem-centric action flick, look at how the film is shot and edited. Notice how weak the punches and kicks seem, notice how muddy and unsure most of the action is, notice when there is an obvious (and vastly more competent) stunt double.

Then contrast that with male actors such as Matt Damon ("Bourne" trilogy), Keanu Reeves ("Matrix"), or Denzel Washington ("Hurricane") who are able to convincingly transform into screen-worthy fighters.

There is simply no comparison, and that's why I often avoid fem-centered action films or shows (or, like Marvel's "Jessica Jones", in which lead actor Kristen Ritter is obviously not a good combatant, I just grit my teeth).

I have no interest in seeing this movie. I watched the trailer and was turned off when they showed the girl-on-girl stuff. It was such an obvious attempt to reel men into wanting to see this movie. Seemed unnecessary.

My thoughts exactly. I like this genre of movie and am really trying to be objective with this one, but every fight scene in the trailer looks horribly choreographed and the strikes look like they have no force behind them or impact. It totally ruins the suspension of disbelieve.

I don't understand how people are entertained by all this fake fighting. I like violence and fighting in movies that at least tries to look realistic.

Look at cat woman in dark knight rises or this trash, it looks so pathetic and boring.

Realistically 99% of movies where the woman kicks ass is just a gimmick to appeal to female empowerment. It's like watching the media machine spoon feed a bunch of toddlers. They love it.

To play Devil's advocate; yea, those punches could hurt. She could have dense muscles and elite training. Movies in general have goons who get knocked out/killed unrealistically easily.

Personally I won't see it, maybe if it's on Netflix, but it doesn't really bother me. The star looks great for her age, props to her diet/workout and any lighting, makeup, and vfx used.
