I just made that name up but since you're asking I'll tell you what I meant by it.

When you reverse your schedule in opposition to the majority of the world everything changes. Simply put, you don't have to deal with the world. You're disconnected. The masses are all asleep and everything opens up. You don't have to wake up to an alarm clock. You don't have to sit in traffic or wait in line. No idiots blocking aisles at the grocery store. The world is cool, quiet, and yours for the taking. At work you will not have to deal with 90% of the bullshit others do and you'll get paid more to top it off. I've been this way for a very long time, whenever I find myself in the unfortunate situation of being on day shift I absolutely despise it and soon make my getaway. Day people are very high strung and prone to backstabbing and drama. There's also a shitload more of them scurrying around including bosses. You're lucky if you get one boss at night let alone seven or eight of them and their minions. No matter where you go or what you do night people are a different breed, much more relaxed and there are much fewer of us.

When you need to do things important in the daytime like go to the bank or whatever it's ridiculously easier because everyone else is at work as opposed to fighting your way to everything like Spartacus when the clock strikes 5. A lot of things are actually blocked for day people because they simply can't get there before they close. I've known plenty of day people who had to actually take days off to do simple shit. Doctors appointment? Fuck, gotta clear it with your boss and dig into your vacation days. Night people can do whatever they want with little to no hassle.

TL:DR Nighttime is the right time.

Night shift can be a thing of beauty. still has a bunch of chicks asking me if I'm dating someone. Annoying as hell. Being mean makes them worse.

I did it for a year. Almost lost my mind by the end. No actually Im pretty sure I did. Dont do it. Its terrible. Although it does offer more solitude because everyone is sleeping.. The lack of sunshine (if youre sleeping during the day) will fuck you up in ways you cant even understand. Even if you supplement it with vitamin D.

There is a certain relaxation to it. I don't really enjoy it because the shift diff isn't great in my company. And I do like having some sort of social life lol.

But if it's something that works with your lifestyle I could see it being very enjoyable.

Thinking about it now, on many occasions I was able to solve a problem which I could not solve during the day in the office, while being paid hourly to solve it. All it took was to come home, have a nap and have another look at the problem at like 1pm, without coworkers distracting me with "how you been?" How crazy is that? Office environment is actually kind of bad if you get paid to solve riddles. It's torturous to have to track back to where you were after some coworker asked me if I want coffee for the 18th time.

Same with the solitude. Best if youre single and live alone. Social life takes a major hit. Oh well. I still struggle to find motivation to do anything though. Sometimes go through major bouts of depression. Best thing is to keep a positive outlook at all times. Been doing nights for 2 years straight. I think i need to get off though. My mental health is starting to suffer.

I worked at nights for 2 years, it was awesome, i was even outside.

Its just so quite, you can enjoy yourself and think about thinks, and do your work on autopilot.

I got a sweet solo gig during graveyard complete isolation until 6am I come in turn on my music be it rock or metal, no one complaining about the music saying it should be turned off overall just a great experience.

I work evening shift. From 3:00 to 11:00 but due to the nature of my job sometimes I will work until 5:00 am. Flexible hours are great as long as I dont have to work mornings.

I actually prefer working 12 hour days 3 times a week as opposed to working a typical 5 day work week since it leaves me with much more free time.

I work on call. Day blends to night blends to twilight blends to dawn. My evening drink after work on Friday is now a Wednesday morning. It's peaceful after a while, I just work and chill at weird hours. I rarely fight traffic and routinely go grocery shopping in practically empty stores. It's like I'm the only one not in the rat race it seems.

I work in security and I am able to ignore most of the traffic, regardless of the time of the day.

When I am on my way to work, everyone else is on the other side of the highway going home.

When I get out of work, everyone is on the other side of the highway going to work.

As someone who often gets to the store /bank /etc during normal hours, this is a really good advantage for me.

I'm torn on vampire mode. I'm a massive night owl so I understand the appeal of it - I'll probably even look for some night shift work once I finish my masters. But that said it does seem to have some pretty big health risks. If you're a natural night owl these might be lessened somewhat (or at least you'd already suffer/be accustomed some of the effects naturally), but it doesn't seem great for your long term health. If you want to do it, I'd suggest limiting yourself to ~1-3 years, and get it out of the way while you're sub 40. I don't think its very healthy - human bodies are designed to be asleep at night, and whilst they can function just fine for a while, it's probably comparable to being somewhere between quite and very stressed the entire time. Tolerable, but fucks with your heart.
