I created this post to probe common hobbies which require little or no money to enjoy/start. I have one which is writing (English is not my native language) and I'm planning to buy a cheap fountain pen to try something different (used ballpoint/rollerball pens my entire life). In the near future, I think that I will dedicate my time to do very simple carpentry projects (electric tools are expensive and require plenty of space to store them [It'd be nice to rent a place with tools to do my projects now and then]). I also enjoy taking care of a tiny window garden I have (I live in an apartment and I plan to move to the countryside in at most 5 years but that's another story).
Edit: expanded the text a little bit.

Depending on the game, certainly. Off-brands like GURPS or old editions like AD&D can provide endless hours of fun for next to nothing. Newer editions of (e.g.) D&D can be more expensive than just migrating to New Zealand and becoming an explorer.
Then there's Tabletop Simulator, which is a $20 pass to pretty much any game that ever existed (and access to players globally).

PSA, u/GWJ_DanyBoy, u/muscacavalcade and u/RedHotRandy:
On HumbleBundle.com they have a sale on digital Warhammer Roleplay books. Definitely worth it, considering the MSRP on these things. Plus, Warhammer! These paired with Tabletop Simulator (also on sale at Humble) would be a seriously great investment in a hobby.
