From a pure investing point of view I don't think so.
The demand for sex dolls will rapidly increase, and so will their level of development. At the same time the price will go down due to mass production. I'm thinking about the beginnings of the automotive industry.
Which means the performance per price for the at any time current generation will rise. Buying something would fix a relatively huge amount of cash in a specific p/p, while renting would allow you to have something better every generation.
On the other hand, renting would mean you'd either rent the newest model at a premium or a used one. But that's only a personal preference.

Not in any city. 50k means take home pay is probably 40k after state, fed, and local taxes. If you own a home, thats at least 1000 per month; same for renting decent-sized apt. Then there is car payments, student loan payments, your phone, your cable, food.
And, if you have kids, that 50k might be enough to keep food on the table. Diapers, baby food, carseats, baby clothes, Dr. appts, and daycare can eat up 10-20k a year.
