Thing is, this is the same kind of idiocy that happens with all sorts of things -- per example SpaceX launched the Falcon Heavy rocket today -- and I am absolutely certain that all kinds of idiot fanboi's will be gushing over "what Elon Musk accomplished" (wow what a "geenyus" that guy is); when the reality is that he doesn't actually have diddly squat to do with the technical & operational aspects of any of that.

And yet even though they're backtracking, the focus in all this still seems to be on the women in STEM aspect, and they just went and dug up more women working on the project and gave them a platform, too. Whichever way they cut it, they're putting women front and centre as much as they can despite the fact that gender is irrelevant to the achievement.

Edit: Read the "recanting" link - how many women did they interview, 4 or 5? How many men? None. What a joke.

While she led the development of an algorithm to take a picture of a black hole, an effort that was the subject of a TED Talk she gave in 2016, her colleagues said that technique was not ultimately used to create this particular image.

So her work had nothing to do with the final fucking results, yet she's been getting all of the credit.

Every one of them say it’s a team effort. There’s no way only one person could do it. There’s bits and pieces of each person’s work, and there were multiple teams. She was the lead of one of them and it all stemmed from her original algorithm. She’s a Dr. and deserves some recognition.

All of you are just butthurt and are trying to discredit someone who is waaayyyy smarter than any of you.
