My stepmother makes high end 5 figures a year, was 10k in debt when she hooked up with my dad, got tied into gambling thanks to the local casino and gambled 30k worth of debt onto her credit cards in the form of cash advances which she got AT THE CASINO. She's in over her head in a house she can't afford esp thanks to the housing crisis in 08 which saw several neighbors foreclose on homes. Man, the way society is going, for those men who want kids, this system incentivises impregnating women and bailing. Child support isn't that big a deal. 10% of your income in my province. This will probably change. But damn, that's a bargain.
Issue is that most men that want kids don't actually want to ba on the kid, just the abuse that comes from the mother.
With changes in family court laws, co-parenting might become mainstream. It's not a perfect solution as children fair better with two parents. But it's better than a completely broken family structure.
Maybe romance will become a thing of the past.

My ex had a six figure debt from a bad home purchase decision, two small children (unwilling to have one with me), and she still asked if I would support her while she went and pursued a PhD in education. At the core of the message it's about men going on their own way and not depending on anyone but themselves. I wouldn't call it a counter movement imo. Men have always done this.
