an interesting book studying human sexual preferences is A Billion Wicked Thoughts. basically Google engineers take 1 Billion+ of search results and go through the data to understand how men and women think when it comes to sex, porn, etc. I remember one of the pieces they say is that women tend to operate like a “detective agency” meaning they check with their friends on a guy their with/seeing for their thoughts, approval or criticisms.

Speaking now anecdotally, women engage in pretty intimate “locker room talk” fairly casually when they’re with their girlfriends, and they’ll even share that kind of talk with their boyfriends when in private (e.g. “she’s mad and wants to break up with her bf because he’s got a tiny dick - btw we’re seeing them Friday for dinner and drinks”).

it’s flatly naïve to think that only men do locker room talk if that’s the stereotype: try drinking with women’s sports teams without thinking “Jesus Christ!” just once at something someone shares with the group about her ex/current boyfriend.
