Eggs are very costly (not the dozen for $2 from walmart). In biology, women are very costly to get. So, Even if an artificial womb is developed, egg donar will claim parental rights eventually...

Children needs resources to rear (which is another story)

From what I heard the artificial womb only works on, like, the last trimester. Scientists still don't know how to get the baby through the first two trimesters yet.

Then, even once this is perfected, it has to become affordable, which will take at least another generation.

Finally, guaranteed there will be gynocentric laws preventing men from using it because vagina, or the egg donor will have all parental rights (which is basically true today, the woman has all the rights and power lmao) which would make it risky, if not impossible, to use in the west... so you'd have to wait until it spreads throughout the world so you can get your test tube baby outside the west and then bring it back to your home.

all in all, I wouldn't expect to get my kids safely for at least another 50 years, and that's assuming the west hasn't collapsed at that point anyway.

The last I heard of it is that they still aren’t ready for full implementation because while they can artificially inseminate and they have this tech they still need the egg to implant in the uterine wall and develop a placenta naturally. So that is the next hurdle.

Technological progress has been slowing for quite a while and proper artificial wombs are a sci-fi pipe dream. This tech at its best will serve as an expensive advanced incubator for premature babies.
