Yes I've noticed this too. I fill up one grocery bag each week. I used to share a trash dumpster with a couple around my age for 2 years. Every week the dumpster would be overflowing, and the recycling bin would be stuffed with cardboard from lots of amazon orders. Every week. Those dumpsters are about 50 gallons. I would fill 1 maybe 2 gallons of it and the couple would fill the rest.

Also, whenever I've lived with a woman, yes "we" had to take out the trash almost every day.

I take the trash out every day because my parking space is next to the dumpster and I have a thing about odors; but if I stretched it I'd probably be in the once a week camp. I eat a lot of packaged foods(I know, I know) and I don't recycle(I know, I know), so if I modified those two behaviours and didn't obsess over smells, I could probably go at least two weeks.

less than a trash bag (13 gal kitchen bag) per week, less if I really break down all the boxes and recycle everything.

not sure what it is with females and paper products but the waste level is just enormous. with the ex wife it was entire rolls of paper towels and TP, and stacks of paper plates because all the dishes were dirty and she didn't feel like doing them.

my mom literally has 4 garbage cans in a 700 sq ft apt and they are always full when I visit, and overflowing and stinking to boot. she's got 3 different "housekeepers" that come over every week too who take it all out so I have no idea how she generates it all but she would literally suffocate under her own filth without people to constantly take it out for her.

I, on the other hand, still haven't finished the giant package of paper towels I've had since my divorce three years ago. Staying clean and conserving resources while making little trash is really not hard ladies! Yeesh.

My power bill was easily $100 a month. Until she moved out. Then it was $31

Grocery bag or two maybe, each week. Most is recyclable. Buying whole foods and stuff that isn't packaged helps.

Very little, and that's with two teenage nephews. Most everything either gets the burn barrel, or in the fertilizer pile.

Most of my trash is food waste from cooking. I produce very little trash other than that, and most of it is recycleable.

I compost my food waste, and recycle bottles & cans. I use a 35 lb dog food bag for trash and take it out ABOUT once a month whether it's full or not.

I usually buy a lot of stuff that's in glass or metal and they take up quite a bit of space and are heavy, so I tend to take out the trash every 2 days or so.

1 small plastic grocery bag every 2 weeks or so. We have a pretty good recycling and food waste recycling program. Very little goes in the garbage bin.

I haul out in indoor cans when ever they fill up and dump them in the larger cans that go to the curb on pickup day.

Larger Recycling Can gets pushed to the curb for pickup about once every 3 weeks and garbage can makes it to the curb about once ever 2 weeks.

When I had a woman living with me the garbage when to the curb twice a week and recycling every week.

I had a similar issue when living with my family (4 people). I used to have to take out 1 medium size (8 gallon) bag a day. I get that 4 people = at least 4x the trash, but now I toss out a grocery bag every few days. It's dropped even more since I've begun meal planning -- the amount of trash we (don't) produce really shows how big of consumer whores women really are.

My little blue wheelie-bin rarely gets more than a third full before it gets emptied while my big yellow recycle wheelie bin only gets full because either my neighbours or landlord use most of it for their trash.

You'd be surprised how many times you can reuse a paper plate. And plastic dinnerware will last as long as silver.

How often do you cook for yourself, and if for how many people? How is the same question when applied to your family house? Since I started cooking my amount of trashes has doubled I think. One bag per day or two for one person.

Also a lot of food products could be available in smaller packages, they just make them bigger so customers think that they get bigger quantities. For example any yogurts or similar things.

The remarkable one to me you just mentioned is dishes. I currently run my dishwasher maybe once every 3 weeks and that's usually because I'm being super lazy and put some skillets in there.

My ex used to - hahahaha. Who am I kidding? She never loaded the dishwasher. She could have the sink overflowing all by herself in about a day or two though. Then she'd get mad at me for not doing the dishes.

"But those are all YOUR dishes. I made zero of those dishes. ZERO."

I always claim this victory, but when I went and had to swing by her place for some of my stuff (twice actually) her place smell like pigshit. The dishes were overflowing and growing. It was just such a victory of "I knew it wasn't my fault the house was a mess."
