True story: my ex was mad at me because I didn't wish her a happy birthday.

I was coming off a 5 day fever (never been this sick in my life), so I genuinely forgot her birthday because, you know, I was fighting for dear life.

She called me to tell me how pissed she is and how we should "probably not see each other anymore". I said "ok " and hung up. She immediately called me back, presumably because of how shocked she was that I didn't give a fuck (lmao). The rest of the convo is just nonsense.

Women are selfish children who don't give a fuck about you, only what you can give her and how you make her feel.

I like celebrating my birthday. I like going to a nice restaurant and out to the movies...alone. Last year my roomie found out my ritual and tagged along to pay for everything. He kept the small talk to a minimum and even went to the movie he didn't care to see. Simple pleasures, kind friends.

I once planned a birthday party for my now soon-to-be-ex-wife for 40ish attendees. I delegated tasks for people and so I didn't actually have to do a lot of investment in time or money. I organized it and thought I did a fantastic job at that. A friend bought the cake, people brought food, etc.

She wouldn't go to the party and I finally got her to go an hour late. Her issue? I didn't take it seriously enough because I should have put more personal time and money into it than I did. She continued to bring up her disappointment in the party for the next year into the beginning of our separation.

My birthday a month prior, however, was an after thought. My side of the family gets together every Sunday for lunch. My wife made a cake. That's it. It was my 30th birthday.

I was perfectly satisfied with my birthday but she was rediculous in her expectations of her own.

Ex wife used to buy me stuff for the house for my birthday, all my hobbies were "too expensive".

I found a married loophole tho, I'd ask her to take money out of my account to buy me something. I told her it seems bad but she can get me what I want and it came from her heart no matter where the money came from. She LOVED the idea.

PRESTO. I now paid for all my expensive hobbies with my wife thinking she bought them for me. If I wanted to buy them for myself she would have bitched at it being "too expensive".

Fuck that, I take a week off and go snowboarding to celebrate my birthday. I do enough all fuckin year, and work more then anyone else in my family. My birthday is me time. I'm not doin shit for anyone. Family, work, bitches, nope. Me. I will spend my time in some AirBnB in Colorado or other snow heavy city away from all that. Get myself a small cake and play video games at night. Working is great and getting shit done to accomplish your goals is crucial, but time to yourself is important too. And what better time to do all that then the time when you came onto this earth?

Also, fuckin socks? In the 28 years I've been alive, I've only had 2 girls give me a present for my birthday of any kind. Both gifts were pretty awesome, but that's it. 2 woman out of all the females I've dated or been "friends" with. Needless to say, fuck expecting shit from women.
