I'm a pretty normal teenager, whatever that means. I've lurked on this sub for a while, and I'm torn as to whether I agree or not.

MGTOW has always been a divisive philosophy. I know that already. I can't talk about ideas like these with other people for fear of being labeled a misogynist, or a toxic masculinist, which is why I'm incredibly grateful to the Internet as a safe place where free ideas are welcome. Obviously, being young, my views towards women are greatly biased by the usual teenager hormones, and also the biological drive to reproduce, and that's why when I first saw this subreddit, I told myself that I didn't agree. I told myself I didn't agree so that I wouldn't have any moral impediments to my long term goal of eventually marrying someone, and raising kids, which is again, the biological drive of any organism.

However, it scared me a little bit that the more I read some of these posts, the more they resonated with me. Being autonomous is always superior than having to support someone else, whether or not they contribute equally. The extra responsibility, or as the French philosopher Jean Rousseau writes, "Man is born free, and everywhere he is in chains.". These "social contracts" constantly infringe on freedom, and tend to increase with age. Right now I yearn to be independent so that I don't have the listen to my parents any more, but deep down I also realize that the chains that come with being independent; financial responsibility; marital responsibility; filial responsibility, infringe on personal freedom to be whoever, and do whatever you truly desire to do.

On the other hand, I think that the attitudes of many people on the sub are skewed in the wrong direction. There's a reason why normies outside this sub think that we are a bunch of bitter, failed-relationship woman haters. It's because posts really are. I read posts almost every time I open this subreddit about how women are these cold creatures who are built to take advantage of men, or how marriage is so damaging to a man in every way. I know from personal experience that some of the inspiring people in my life are women, and that nothing truly great is achieved by a single man alone. No truly great achievement is done by solely one person. Isaac Newton famously said that "If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.", meaning that his work would not have been possible without past scientists, male or female. Women are human in the end, and from the beginning. It's wrong to believe that all women have malicious intent based on anecdotal evidence. (My argument is also based on anecdotal evidence, which is why I'm willing to have my mind changed)

Is it really right to exclude women from our personal lives entirely? Humankind is fundamentally diverse. It rationally doesn't make sense to avoid other humans simply for being a different sex. The division by sex quite literally splits the world in half. If we choose to exclude half of the world from our personal life, we are most certainly missing out on something.

As an internet community for people who have had bad experiences with women, MGTOW certainly succeeds. The MGTOW philosophy is incredibly beneficial as compared to the never-ending cycle of "romance" that I tend to see so often. I don't know whether it's a good idea for someone like me, who has hardly experienced life yet. I see all of these stories about how men are ruined by marriage, and I can't tell whether I'll be missing out on something extraordinary if I go MGTOW or I'll be missing out on true freedom if I don't.

They tell me to learn from others, so while my mind is still malleable, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
