Feminists keep pushing how we should be encouraging women more to pursue STEM and other high-paying, yet difficult and stressful careers, and blaming women's low numbers in said careers on external factors. However, anyone with any sense of logic and reason can see women just DON'T WANT to pursue these careers...Why, you ask?
BECAUSE THESE CAREERS INVOLVE DEDICATION AND HARD WORK.
If they were to put the "Girl's life" header on the Boy's Life magazine above, the magazine would go under in a fucking heartbeat.
These magazines know exactly what girls and boys are attracted to...Girls: provision, attention and materialism. Boys: action, creativity and accomplishments.

They might also be disinterested. STEM involves stuff, not people. An autism researcher has proposed the Empathising-systemizing theory which states that this is the fundamental difference between male and female brains. Experiments on newborn babies from humans and other monkeys show that they prefer dolls or trucks depending on their sex. Socialisation cannot explain that.

Even universities like the one I went to who have major outreach programs can barely break 30% female for computer science. All the boys who get in never had an outreach program with people begging them to join, they found it and joined themselves. I don't buy that the lack of women in CS is due to anything more than a general lack of interest among women.

It's hard to say actually whether culture or nature makes women so disinterested.
Larry Summers infamously got ousted at Harvard for suggesting a difference in spatial aptitude between the sexes which would amount to a huge difference at the tail ends of a normal distribution.
Yet we all see how women surpass men in usage of some technologies like social media (though they didn't build that). This belies attempts to blame gender differences in e.g. the number of newspaper comments or Wikipedia on sexism.

I don't know where the line is. In general scientists have a poor understanding of when biology or culture is the dominant factor. Biological studies along gender or racial differences are so taboo no research team will touch it.
I don't think any new evidence in either direction would really change my viewpoint. I'm an egalitarian and want a world where everyone gets equal opportunity (and equal responsibility).

Could you honestly be neutral on human nature, regardless of evidence¹? Hard questions as those concerning race and sex differences are answerable once we figure out which genes do what. Social scientists of either brand won't like it :) Currently, the huge amount of data is a deterrent to such analysis, but there are efforts.
For instance, Steve Hsu (blog) currently tries to find out which genes make people intelligent. His view on genetics are uncompromising. He is adamant that brainpower does set the ceiling of your possible life accomplishments, at least intellectually (see for instance this article).
¹ I mean this in all seriousness. I have yet to come across someone who would be completely indifferent if genetic race and IQ correlations were found or findings would lead to anything from gene-based policies to superintelligent test-tube babies. Trying to hold back progress (doing nothing) is also a stance.

I've been in IT for 20+ years and have met a few women who were killing it. Genuinely interested and talented. However, they are a tiny group - maybe half a dozen that I can think of - and most are rather uninterested.
I've had a female CD graduate come onboard and she flat out said she didn't know how to code. You know what happened? They made her project manager and business liaison. Wish I was fucking making this up.
But the best part is that the people who suffer the most from this bullshit are genuinely hardworking women, because of course now everybody is thinking they rode in on some sort of quota. The only way out of this shithole is to abandon sexist and racist programs like affirmative action.

I guess I've had good luck with the women I've worked with. My manager is female and is very good, she probably works longer hours than anyone else on the team. All the other women I've coded with have been competent.

History documentaries have generally gotten worse (or entertaining if you are not interested). While now having higher production costs, they show too many supposed experts babbling, walking around and posing to a myriad of useless sound effects. Reenactment is often merely the bait to make the audience waste their time. Roman cavalry in stirrups? Egyptians using plastic doors? That really pisses off the armchair general in me.

I laugh when people say these are sexist. The girls magazines are written and edited by women and the boy's magazine by men. How is it sexist if the women choose to write what they want? No man is forcing her to write about "girly" stuff. No change is ever gonna come because if the girl's magazines had the same content as the boy's ones then there would be zero sales. No girl would want to read that and the company would have a major loss. I think this might be too complicated for feminists to understand.

I acknowledge that is increasingly a problem. Men continue to found companies, do all hard and dirty jobs, innovate and are educating themselves privately, e.g. with non-fiction books.
Yet women take the jobs in expanding governments and are not threatened by the death of old industries. The decline of industrial workers and salary men has been a disaster for male employment.

You raise good point that's always on my mind. Most of the growing fields are designed for women: health care, billing specialist, social worker are all easy degrees to get with the best job prospects. Designed for women because the demand was artificially generated for these careers.

The oppression is really at the boy's side.
If you discover a vaccine, or invents an aircraft or anything similar, chances are you are making anything for everybody else, but you don't get anything out of it while you live. Maybe in some cases you get some money, but society and girls in particular will shun you. Scientists don't get hot fashion models as girlfriends.
Girls on the other hand are taught to take care of themselves and their looks, which gives them tremendous benefits in life and a lot of things for free.
The average income of the US prostitute is 290k per year. Compare that to the world's greatest mathematician Terence Tao who makes about 400k per year and you see how fucked up salaries are.
