This is my second post on the subject. 12 days have gone by, and I figured another post was in order.

My girlfriend owed me money. $100 in bills here and there adds up over 4 years. She inherited some money, so I asked her to pay me back the $6,000 she owed me. (It's not really a lot of money to me, but it's the principal of the thing) She moved out of the other half of the duplex instead. While I was asleep a moving truck came and and she loaded up the stuff she really needed and left the rest.

I'm so happy. I really am.

But one of the comments she made to me was "We've been together for 5 years, and what do I have to show for it? Nothing!"

Let that sink in. She felt entitled to some sort of assets, I think. She wanted me to do what? Buy her a house and car? She was my girlfriend, not my wife. I'm so glad that when she left she didn't take half my life savings with her, and half of all the money I'll make until the end of time. Just a dirty duplex. I am having a garage sale this weekend to get rid of as much of what she left behind as I can. The rest gets put into a dumpster, probably.

I erred that we were almost cohabiting, but really we weren't, and she was paying me rent (even if she was kinda behind $6k on it). I didn't really come out that far behind in the whole deal. Lesson learned, and not a very painful one at that.
