Computer Engineering undergrad here. This shit is so hard most end up fleeing. And good grades aren't enough. You can't take job for granted, you must be really good with what you do, competition is fierce.

Most thots will endure the first two years, when there are enouh beta orbiters to do their homework. Then, even those guys drop out and the ones who remains are the really hardcore dudes who are more into spending their time reading high level math and computer theory books than with thots.

isn't this more a sign that women arent as likely to want to go into these fields? Nothing sexist about it, just people dont want their careers to be like this. Lowering standards just screws up the field entirely as more less-qualified people go into it, of both sexes.

But why? They aren't making it an equal playing field in female dominated occupations... nurses, doctors, teachers etc.

Now that most of these professions are female dominated will only end in lower productivity, more dropouts and half ass career paths because they decide halfway through that their career isnt fulfilling and what they wanted.

Men find meaning and vocation through work and women find it through relationships and building a family.

With this new age "independence' women have, they're not going to have a family till at least 30, post wall and washed up. Not many men want this....sooo

This isn't just lower standards. CSU East Bay has much lower standards than UC Berkeley. Yet both have very low female to male engineering ratios. If a woman with a 3.6 wants to go into a Mechanical Engineering program, she doesn't need Berkeley to lower their standards, she just needs to go to CSU East Bay and she might even get scholarships to do so. This is fake news and some kind of propaganda.

This happens at all schools, MIT, caltech etc. etc. Same thing for minorities. They just do it covertly, but woman get accepted at higher rates into stem majors. Inversely, men often have higher rates into the humanities (men choose higher paying fields, so their less inclined to go into hum)

The sad part is a woman that deserve to be there is going to have to live with the stigma that she was never really good enough, she got in due to the lowered standards.

This happened to a buddy of mine in the eighties with affirmative action. He had to spend four years in the Marines just so he could apply to the State Police Academy.

You see back then if you were a white male you had to score 100% or better on the civil service test, white female 90%, black male 75%, and black female 50%, to be accepted into the State Police Academy.

The guy didn't have a racist bone in his body and two of his best friends in the Marines were black. Ten weeks up at the State Police academy and he was ripping on people of color left and right.

What he saw infuriated him being that he had to join the military for four years just so he could get his ten points for government service. He needed those government service points to score over 100 points just to get into the academy.

Not one of the black women in his class made it past the four week mark, half the white women flunked out mostly due to their inferior physical abilities. Three didn't even posses the strength to pull the trigger on a double action revolver. The black men in his class that did make it through the academy, all scored in the high eighties or above on the civil service test. He said that less than 50% of his class who started with him graduated to become police officers.

What had him so infuriated was that the black police officers that went though those ten weeks of training, would now have to go though their entire police careers stigmatized that they were AFFIRMATIVE ACTION hires. Everyone of those black police officers he graduated with, would have been accepted into the State Police academy without mandated Affirmative Action rules.

I can't believe how fucking narrow-minded people are...what does this solve exactly? women are still not interested in STEM nearly as much as men, and those who are now getting in are under qualified and will most likely fail...but while this seems to provide the solution in the short-term for those who desperately want that participation trophy and a "you can do it, girlfriend" cheer, this creates a whole new problem for them down the line...

No one is going to want to hire female engineers knowing that they are less qualified than their male counterparts OR those that need a basic engineer will offer them position but with less pay, simply stating that if they no woman wants to accept they can give the better offer to a more well-rounded male counterpart...

How has academia become this fucking DUMB and short-sighted...

Aircraft mechanic here. Believe me it's pain dealing with female engineers. One time, she cried in front of us for not doing her repair design. She basically wants us to remove an entire section of reverser cowl structure just to install 3 fasteners. We ended up contacting the manufacturer for another repair scheme. One female engineer doesn't even know how to use DIGITAL vernier. Theres litany of bad experiences I have encountered with them in different companies in different countries. In aviation maintenance industry what's scary is giving them authority to decide and we have no choice but to follow. Our solution is not to approach them for advice in the first place. It's our unwritten rule. There are smart ones that they let us decide and tell them what to do and they just document for manufacturer's approval and of course these women get the credit. Fine by me as long the aircraft is safe.

How is this supposed to prove equality is real in anyway? I still got memory of that woman CEO of her own company which she started and wanted to hire only female devs. and failed hard because not a single one could not cheat at interviews or be at least somehow productive. Look that up on YouTube it’s something like woman it destroys feminism or something like that.

There are capable women of doing logical things, but they are so rare that it’s just statistic mistake or they mistook education and their two doctorates like they model for a real experience and application which in IT field is heaven and hell different.
