My brother asked me for our father's old pistol. I said, sure, but to ship it across the country to you, we will need to send it to a licensed firearms dealer in your area.
I guess he talked that over with his woman, and told me a few days later that he wasn't allowed to have the gun.
Women don't want a gun in their house for one reason. They know they are crazy, moody, and mercurial. She knows there is a good chance she will shoot you with your gun and may go to prison.

The only thing I would contest here is the discretion between a gun as a tool and a gun as an instrument of death. It's use as a tool is as of an instrument of death.
I can't build a deck with a gun unless you're talking a nail gun.
A rifle will not help me plow a field, milk a cow, or raise a barn. I can't join furniture with a shotgun.
Guns are absolutely tools, but their utility is in killing.

How about investments, or hobbies. Are those not "practical" enough applications? Some people genuinely enjoy and responsibly enjoy firearms for nothing more than sporting purposes. No responsible gun owner does so with the express intent of shooting another human being. It's more about fun days at the rang with friends, and refusing to be a victim of others that would wish us harm, for me at least. If you act differently with a firearm on your person than you do when unarmed, you are not (imo) a "responsible" gun owner. Practicality, in this case depends on point of view. But feel free to not engage in attempted civil discourse on the issue.

I was teaching one of my buddies about gun safety (he's never had one before) and to run him through the basics I started with a semi-realistic BB gun... because I anticipated mistakes.
After running him through the basic principles of safety, the first thing he did was cross the muzzle right at my chest.
I immediately corrected him and made sure he knew that if he does that if we ever go to the range with a real gun, I would deck him.
The problem we have in the US isn't with guns, it's with people who know nothing about them and don't respect them. The gun isn't going to hurt anyone unless the person holding it is malicious or stupid.

It may just be because of my geographic area, but in the last couple decades, before becoming mgtow, I've dated and been in relationships with a number of women, and most (maybe all?) owned their own guns. Several were pretty good.

I had a woman come in to my ER with a gun that color once. Literally in the process of moving to my state. Claimed she forgot she had it in her purse, couldn’t remember if it was loaded, didn’t have a carry permit in my state, reeked of pot to high heaven and was seeking pain meds on top of it all. Not sure, I didn’t follow what happened afterwards as my shift was ending. But although the weapon was confiscated, she definitely wasn’t arrested on the spot. I’m not a lawyer or LEO and honestly haven’t dealt with this issue enough to know what is typical practice in my area. As I understand it, you COULD be arrested for this offense but I don’t know if people usually ARE arrested, in the absence of other criminal activity or intent. Or if this is more an example of the famous pussy pass.

This happened to a friend under far simpler circumstances and they tried to throw the book at him. Fortunately he had no priors and it was just a misdemeanor. Still, cost him several thousand in legal fees to fight a 60 day mandatory jail sentence. Ultimately, no arrest and no jail time, expunged record.
