My brother, unfortunately, past away last week. His body just flew in today. I'm about to go see him into the great beyond. His life was short, just shy of 30 years. He died homeless and alone. I had always hoped he would learn to provide for himself and pull his own weight, to get my brother back. I don't know what broke him, and I probably never will.
There were times where he started to get a good thing going, then he'd sabotage himself after some breakup. I can't say that I haven't experienced something similar, but I always eventually powered through it. It is a sad and lonely end. I can't help but wonder if there is something I missed, something I could have said or done that I didn't.

Thank you. I've been pretty stoic about the situation thus far. Seeing him one last time brought some of my sadness forth. I consider myself spiritual, but not religious if that makes sense. There seems to be more to this world than meets the eye, he certainly knows more about it than I. He always was one to try to take the shortcut to get ahead.
The reality is he found peace, and he never kowtowed to anyone. He lived more freely than most. Maybe even more than he had a right to during some periods. It was quick at least, nonviolent, he was healthy as far as one can tell by looking at him, didn't take anyone with him.
We're waiting on information from the autopsy, but that doesn't guarantee any answers as to what exactly caused his death. At this point it's a bit of a mystery.
I wasn't sure I was going to be able to handle it either, but after sitting on it this past week I decided anything less would be disrespectful and a waste. In a way, he will lend me the strength to do what must be done.
Marcus Aurelius helps too.
"You do not resent your weight, do you - that you weigh only so many pounds and not three hundred? So why resent either a life-span of so many years and not more? Just as you are content with the amount of matter allocated to you, so you should be content with your allocation of time."

Sorry for your loss brother.
I can relate. There is absolutely more to this world than meets the eye. My best friend taught me this, before passing away a couple years ago. Only 24 years old. He also took shortcuts to get ahead... quit his job and started selling drugs. He was MGTOW, and one of the last times we had talked he found out his girlfriend was pregnant.
He introduced me to some concepts that forever changed my life, and ever since then I've experienced a connection to the divine in a sense. I guess this isn't the right time and place for this, but if you ever want to chat you can PM me.
Stay strong my friend.

Thank you, I appreciate that. My brother seemed to have a wellspring of some knowledge that he wanted to share with me at various points, but it's as if he couldn't express it wholly in language. I've been trying to recall some of the stuff he said.
He suggested that a lot of the things we deal with do not even matter, and he started saying that stuff pretty young. It was always about something specific and relevant to the time though, but he really thought that about a lot of things. Like people just don't get it.
Here I think a lot of us can relate to that. Talk to a feminist, half of the crap out of their mouths either doesn't exist or doesn't matter. What we pay our attention toward does matter. Hmm, I'll have to think about it more. Like me he certainly had trouble fitting in with a lot of people and doing his part on one side of the spectrum, but he didn't lack in ability to make individual connections with people. Fascinating really.

Indeed, in some ways that was true of him I think. Thank you.

Make sure you live in his memory. Please don't get too depressed over this. Wasn't his fault, he is a product of this society.
If an afterlife exists, i hope he has found his peace.

You don't know the story, Son. If any of that stuff was effective, he wouldn't have been homeless. We tried everything. I wasn't going to end up homeless and in debt to support someone capable, but unwilling.
Don't get me wrong. I love my brother, but something changed over the years and he never got it together. I was young too, I didn't have all the answers. He was pig headed. On one hand he wanted agency, on the other he wanted to be subsidized.
Our parents helped us both with vehicles to get started. Nothing fancy, but serviceable. Whenever he got behind the wheel he got dumb. Before he took off to California with a friend my parents had paid all his debts, got him a reliable vehicle and he had gotten a job. All he had to do was maintain.
His friend left him in Califirnia. His story was he tried to reason with my brother and explain that he is leaving, but he wouldn't come with. Knowing what I know, it sounds like him.
I hadn't heard from him for a year. I had no way of contacting him because he couldn't keep a job or a phone. He contacted me on facebook 7 months ago, said he was doing alright. His use of language was odd, but it always was in text. He was vague, but sounded like he had a plan or was figuring things out. I figured I'd hear from him again. I didn't.
So before you go running your mouth with obvious first-step suggestions that serve only to enable then passing judgment, I would suggest you seek first to understand the situation before you accuse me or anyone else of being a shitty brother, person, what have you. You have no fucking clue, and you are completely out of line with that accusation.
Edited phrasing for civility.

It's inconclusive. They did an autopsy, but we won't get the results for a few months. According to the report he was running in a parking lot and collapsed. He was brought to a hospital, but didn't make it an hour. He appeared to be in good health otherwise, healthy weight.
