I've even known some men to hamster about and characterize their jewelry/diamond purchase to be an 'investment'...sure, I guess the gold might go up in value but the diamonds certainly won't. And should the gold go up in value, it'll be minimal since it's just a light amount. And that's assuming you'll have the fuckin' ring after she leaves you.

I have 2 friends who I've known since middle school who got engaged back in 2015 during college. I was the first person they told and was excited at the time (my simp days). Well fast forward to last summer I was getting ice cream with the girl, and she nonchalantly tells me she dumped him. She didn't seem to care too much, as evidenced by the fact that she was seriously dating a new guy shortly after. I did what I could to be there for my friend since I knew he was heartbroken because he really loved her. I've spoken to other people about it who have known them as long as I have, and one of my friends thinks the girl cheated, which I now truly believe. I'm glad it happened, despite my friend's heartbreak, because she didn't deserve him. I've since kinda stopped talking to her and we've been drifting apart. It's sad because we've been friends since middle school, but the way she treated him just upsets me. GYOW.
