It's a valid point imo. So many goods (multigen wisdom for one) vs annoyances (inconveniences). Pretty sure there are people who wish for something like that. Semi jelly.

I recently moved back home to help my parents care for my little brother who has a chronic, degenerative health condition. I imagine I'll stick around for some years as that progresses. My parents aren't exactly in the best of health themselves.

I know society wants me to feel ashamed or that I'm somehow less of a man for still living at home at my age, but I don't. I think a man should put his family first, and fuck what anyone thinks about it. I'm not trying to impress any of these useless shambling pricks who constitute "society" these days.

The thing is. My parents were really fucking good to me. If they were these horrible monsters who raped me every night, I could see a reason to move but I don't. I see my grandmother who is 10 years younger take care of my grandfather who is almost 90 and how close they are with their Italian culture and that's something I really want. I don't want to leave my parents for dead.

My mom can be annoying and rough on the edges at times but she's really good otherwise.

What's so different between here and somewhere else in the States? I can take a vacation if I want to go somewhere else.

I think it's a great idea! It allows the young adults to live without worrying about too many bills, especially mortgage and it allows for security of the grandparents. You will need a big ass house, but since the house and land will remain in the family, it won't be an ongoing generational cost, except the maintenance. The middle-aged working adults will be burdened with the most cost, but it will be reciprocated. Also, having children 20 or so years before your parents retire will keep the gears moving. Hopefully the grandparents were also smart enough to save and invest.

There is also a huge amount knowledge and wisdom that can be passed down, something largely lost in modern western society.

American; do not live in home with my parents but moved back to town with my Dad closing in on 70 to be around as he continues aging and potentially losing ability to care for the home. For his age the dude is spry but I definitely have an almost instinctive feeling to be in close proximity as he continues to age and help out. We live in the Adirondacks with immense land to tend to so at some point his body just is not going to let him continue on nurturing the homestead.

I live at home because I have health issues that make fulltime work difficult. I was out most of this month at my job, for example.

However, the not being at work as much as I sometimes can, means I had to deal with my mother and her lazing around reading/watching fringe news outlets and complaining she doesn't get anything done cuz there's just too much to do in little time. Meanwhile my dad works so much he's practically going braindead.

TLDR, I'd move out if I could, sadly I cannot at this time, nor the foreseeable future. No.1 reason I desire to move out? My mother.

I moved back home with my parents recently because I didn't have steady work. Now I'm fulltime employed again, I'll be moving out on my own again in the new year.

I'll be living close to my parents though and will always be there to help them, especially since they're both retired now and getting older. It's the least I can do given everything they've done for me over the years. I'm grateful to have such amazing parents.

The "kicking kids out of the nest" is a fairly recent development, and very western. Living with your clan/tribe/family in one place over time is a great way to share labor and concentrate resources...But that doesn't fit very well with our modern consumer model.

This is something I've been thinking of myself, especially since Alzheimer is prone on my fathers side (Grandmother passed away with it). My parents live in the country side and has a smaller cottage on their property and that might be an option, or maybe just "stay in the vicinity".

I think the divide here isn't ethnic. I think it's a financial pull. Having one age group as consumers isn't enough to drive the global economy, only a local one. It started with the welfare of children, it always does. In between apocalyptic world wars, parents were severely pressured into giving their kids a proper life. Making sure they ate first, got the most comfort, and had toys (even in the great depression you find stories about creative parents). When the draft hit for the second time, shit got real. American people started to understand that to defend a nation, men need to die en masse- your sons were seeds for war planted decades ago. Young men were terrified, shown the fast life and red hot death, and exalted as heroes. They had 'become men'. Young men, and their parents were afraid that they would die before ever having lived.

So the concept of a teenager was invented, 'to live every day like it's your last' is a universally accepted piece of broken philosophy. This pressured teenagers to find their own path in the world, but still settle for mediocrity by reminding them of their mortality. This means teenagers getting jobs for themselves, not for the family. This meant that the new irrational group of consumers would enforce fads and trends on one another, further spurring economic growth. Cliques are the reason teenage clothing stores don't need salesmen, just clerks.

This entitlement passed quickly from children to their mothers. During the world wars women entered the workforce, and slowly overall wages dwindled to compensate for the huge increase in workforce. Suddenly strong independent women are making the same as men, and ignoring that men are making the same as they were several years ago.

During all this, global economics starts to heat up and the concept of national loyalty begins to be laughable to a company. I mean, why would you ever choose to open a company here? Our tax rates are abysmal, the IRS and EPA are hound dogs, our workers have extensive rights and workplace safety requirements, not to mention minimum wage and commission, and in the blink of an eye someone can pretend to slip and sue you for your life's earnings.

The (US) graphs that show reported productivity by companies throughout the 20^th century line up with the graphs representing female employment statistics. It could be a coincidence, I'm not an economist.

I think the issue is, that the rich took over the world, and stole every tool we had to take it back. They now decide that your youth and adult life isn't enough- you don't even get to retire anymore. Somehow, even though technology has made every aspect of life easier, maintaining your ability to habitate, live, eat and drink has gotten exponentially more expensive over the last few generations. We ignore the change because we can't fathom the whole picture- most of us have a flawed perception of history.

Basically what I'm saying is that the indoctrination starts young, and eventually you just wont be able to keep up with society.

My parents have enough money to go by without me and really do not need me to take care of them. I left cause though my parents gave me life, they are not entitled to me caring for them, nor am I supposed to do so... I left my country cause I saw it going to shit and I was not willing to fight the degenerates that are destroying my own. So I went somewhere where I can pretend to be ignorant and still have a good life and perhaps, hopefully, feminism implodes before it completely takes hold here. I realize my attitude is one of the millenials that see things the opposite than most of those of my generation and recognize a lost fight..

I dont know about you guys but living at home with your parents sounds pretty good for me. You never have to cook for yourself and chores are shared.

The notion of "your own place" is so consumerist.
