Many years ago when I was still a bluepill dumbass, I had proposed to the "love of my life". I spent a total of 6K on the ring. Being particularly savvy, I designed the ring myself on a CAD program based on several styles she liked and had a family friend on jewelers row make the setting in platinum for less than $1,300.

The diamond I was able to get a great deal on because my friend hooked it up through an Israeli diamond dealer.

Anyways, she saw the $1,300 receipt, I could almost see the blood boiling in her eyes. Being a bluepill moron, I calmed her down with "babe, that's just for the ring setting not the diamond.

When she took it in for appraisal to insure it. It appraised for 16k

I hate everything about the proposal ritual. First, I have to kneel down in supplication, begging her to accept me, despite her being a useless, emotionally broken trainwreck of a human being and my being a success. Even before I went full MGTOW I knew I wasn't going to be begging her for anything. Second, my offering? A hunk of rock that serves no function other than to stroke her ego and give her status points, the money for which could've gone to something useful like the down payment on a house, filling the retirement fund, new car, etc.

I used to tell girlfriends that diamonds are basically worthless, a scam dreamed up by the DeBeers company and drilled into women's heads in order to rip off men. I told them that a woman of true value would be able to see thru this scam and not only be happy with a simple gold wedding band but INSIST on it.

Dollars don't always equate to value. Sometimes you get a good deal.

Plus, designer shit is always wayyy marked up. Cost is like 5%-10% of unit sales revenue, type stuff. Women are so stupid.

I bought a $6 zirconia on Amazon to compare it against a real diamond. I think the zirconia looks nicer. My zirconia would sparkle with color while a diamond worth $6k had more of a white sparkle.

Both are stupid because rings like that tend to get destroyed when they catch fabric or something else

Any moron that thinks a diamond is valuable needs to check out the market for second hand diamonds. Then, they need to show me instances of diamonds bought for investment or capital protection purposes.

Precious metals (gold, platinum, etc...) are valuable and hold value in their weight. The diamond is for morons.

In Thailand cash and 24 karat gold jewelry is the standard wedding gifts. The gold jewelry can even appreciate in value if the price of gold goes up. The actual cost for the jewelry design is minuscule. It's pretty much as good as cash. I like it as it's very pragmatic.
