I did something similar IRL ! A family friend insisted she wanted to pair me with a friend of hers, a 24 year old that looked like it hit the wall prematurely. More out of respect I agreed to meet them and at first glance she seemed very prim and proper, very shy and very submissive with a very sweet voice. On the 1st date after the initial meeting, she showed her true colors: bossy, loud, tried to order me around but I shut down that behavior immediately and she backed down but started bitching to me about how hard college life is and how little money her (single)mother has. At that point got the ideea what she was after and I immediately realized that if she started bitching this early on she really didn't want me for anything except what she can leech of me, money and emotional health. She was after a long term relationship where I could support both her and her mother while having to deal with her bossy attitude. Suffice to say I refused to go on a 2nd date.

Both her and the family friend started calling me and I told the friend I don't want to continue because she's not my type and now she tells me that she is heavily depressed because she got rejection after rejection after rejection lately. I didn't care. Like I said I felt that anxiety dread I was feeling when I was still dating and I didn't want that crap to return. Bullet dodged.

Reminds me of the time I was getting into college, I was 25 (a year ago) and a old coworker (social media thot type, 18yo) was in the same prep class and look over and smiled at me, I said no words and just kept focusing on my algebra work. It's been a year now and im still in college even though i almost flunked out last semester (passed this semester with a 4.0 gpa) and she got preggers and drop out... Shocking! I honestly never understood why anyone buys "smart phones" in the first place. Back in the days when flip phones were still status symbols, or that had just barely passed for the next new fad, the hacker community was reverse-engineering any new phone, and saying they GPS-track your every movement. The government wanted to get into everyone's personal data, and wanted the Clipper Chip to pass, legally, so they could do it, "legally". (As if that would stop them!?) And besides that, all of my electronics nerd / ham radio friends at the time freaked out, safety-wise, at pretty much zero shielding for RF radiation, on a device that some people planted on the side of their heads, almost permanently. But hey, it's clown world. Oh well. Just not my thing, to be using that kind of tech.

I am on the opposite side of "gotta have the new newer newest, all all the time" way of reacting to or watching any new phone-related technology. My style these days is a land line phone, only; and only a handful of people have the number. No texts possible, thank you kindly! Even then, the people that have it, know I never turn the ringer on (thus screening ALL incoming calls, 24/7/365) and they know that I will NOT call anyone back, even if the caller ID display says it is so-and-so. Gotta leave your actual voice on my old school answering machine, or you get nothing: no call backs, without a voice I recognize on that recorder, and a relevant "this is so-and-so, call me when you can" request.

My blood pressure wouldn't have it any other way.
