Allowing the child to live would obviously have been an "inconvenience" and even possibly an "oppressive burden" to the mother -- therefore SHE is the "true victim" here.

-- And no doubt in years to come... even further delayed Maternal Filicide -- i.e. killing of children by their mother -- will probably be seen as much the same as well ... the only real question will be "up to what age?" (i.e. will it be considered some "misdemeanor" and semi-acceptable {possibly not even a "crime"} all the way up to age 21 years {possibly beyond}, or will some limit be set at a younger age).

Only time will tell.
