It's not even that they do it, it's that they get away with it.
Incidence of rape is on the level of 0.01%, yet it's a terrible crime that's harshly punished when it's committed. False rape claims are just as damaging, far more common, and don't get punished.
Set minimum sentencing for false allegations to 10 years and they will disappear overnight.

I've seen an article written by a woman that claimed only 1% of claims were false...which is interesting, because that's the very lowest estimate of 20 studies listed on Wikipedia. It looks as if she's deliberately used the lowest possible rate in an effort to justify her claim that "most rape claims are not false"
