EDIT - thanks a lot for the responses. Consensus seems to be: make small changes and keep going. Should be obvious to an old fuck like me (I know, I'm not that old) but it's just been so difficult to just get out of my own way. Still, I've started some changes today already. Made a phone call that I literally should have made 4+ months ago. I finally cut and placed some floor mats in my new vehicle, and I did some squats and push ups. Small victories. Thanks again for the feedback.

I struggle A LOT with motivation. I’m 40 and, especially recently (last couple years), my motivation and desire to do pretty much anything is almost zero. Now, I’ve always been similar in that my motivation would come in waves, but now those waves rarely happen. I am also, though, a big proponent of personal responsibility/accountability. A lack of motivation doesn’t mix well with that.

Can anyone on here give some real advice or, even better, share a similar story but with a positive outcome? I flirt with the idea of a therapist but I’ve never gotten much from them and I really just don’t love the idea in general.
