Montana's a great choice, as is Washington State's Olympic Peninsula. Great fishing/hiking/camping in both places and epic scenery all around.

I wanna go to Hawaii solo trip. Grab my scuba gear and take it at my own pace. I've only traveled with groups this far and I don't really like depending on someone else's plan for you.

Look into overlanding, basically vehicle dependent traveling. It's been a cool hobby to get into, for me at least.

If you are looking to avoid the heat, you need a significant increase in elevation. Or latitude I suppose.

The Smokies don't really get the elevation you need, and tend to be brutally muggy, so I'd tell you to head west, to the Rocky Mtns. The Rocky Mountain National Park is stunningly beautiful, and I think it's around 8k elevation (and higher of course). I've visited in July/August and it was sweet relief from the SW Florida heat and humidity.

Any state park. I'm running into the issue of having too much vacation time building and will probably camp, fish, kayak, and sneak beer into the local campgrounds.

I have all of the shit already in my SUV for my usual day trips and weekends. People always complement my rod, https://i.imgur.com/Kikly2b.gifv giggidy, storage when they see fishing gear all organized.
