Something we need today more than ever
Edit: women dont realize how good they have it wen this is all they have to do
[β]TheLightningMachine62 points63 points64 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
I don't agree with everything on it, but showing this to a feminist would cause them to have an aneurism.
[β]Hitlers_Gas_Bill8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link
Which points do you disagree with?
Some of the advice is a little outdated like the 'ribbon in the hair' and wearing make up around the house but everything else is spot on.
[+]StatisticaPizza-13 points-12 points-11 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
If I get home at 5 I'm not gonna bitch about someone doing my laundry or dishes, and it's kind of fucked up if you do.
If my wife is at home cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the children all day I think it's fair to say they deserve a night out just as much as a working man does.
Combine all of this advice with the fact that most modern men are transitioning to cushy office jobs and it's absolutely insane to think that a stay at home wife/mom isn't working about as hard as her husband, assuming she's doing all of the cooking and cleaning.
[β][deleted] 16 points17 points18 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Assuming you had 8 hours to do housework, how long would it take you? You don't have to beat your clothes on a rock to clean them anymore, and you can plop kids in front of a TV to keep them occupied.
I clean my apartment regularly, meal-prep/cook for myself, and wash all my own clothes. It's not that fucking difficult. Granted I don't have a couple little tykes running around, but this myth that being a housewife is 'soooo hard' is bullshit.
[β]SavvyMillennial7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Super bullshit lol.
[β]StatisticaPizza-3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not arguing that it's on par with working on an oil rig or something like that, and a lot of women don't do half of this shit and they still complain, but here's my argument.
I've got a daughter and I know first hand what it's like taking care of her and keeping up with all of my housework, cooking, and shopping.
You can shove your kids in front of the TV all day if you want but that's shit parenting.
A lot of men aren't busting their ass all day anymore, they're working in an office or driving a vehicle most of the day. Even the men who work in factories are sitting down and doing assembly or basic machine operating for the most part.
I'm not trying to defend women, most of them can't cook, don't clean very well, and don't take good care of their kids.
If they were doing all of that, I think it'd be pretty shitty to expect them to kiss your ass every night just because you have a job.
[β]Hitlers_Gas_Bill1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
1) You and I might not bitch about it but I think we would be a lot happier if it was quieter at home after a long day. I'm not talking about eerie silence but you know what I mean.
2) Of course, even in the 50s, they weren't saying that women should do this every single night - wives would get nights out, however, it was acknowledged that housework is much, much easier than whatever the man does for work so 'making the evening his' on 95% of evenings is reasonable. Everything that is listed in the article, even if the woman did that for her man every night, wouldn't come close to how much effort he spends breadwinning anyway.
[β]Thr0w4w4y757746-2 points-1 points0 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It is insane.

The 2019 version just requires you to not have a woman in your house to achieve the goal. :)

This was back when they taught home ek and shop class to kids. When marriages lasted and when having babies and a small farm with a garden was a way of life.
[β]boytjie20 points21 points22 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
and a small farm with a garden was a way of life.
Itβs more recent than the bucolic, agrarian images you invoke. Iβm an old dude (born 1955) and I remember at primary school, girls going to βHome Economicsβ and βDomestic Scienceβ classes when all the boys went to βWoodworkβ class. Girls were supposed to learn domestic skills there (including cooking), household logistics and budgeting. I had reason to go through the Home Economics class once. It had 20 electric stoves mounted along one wall. I recall the guys were never averse to testing out the girls culinary experiments. These feminine scholastic skills have faded away over the years. I also have an embroidery sampler on my wall from my great grandmother at primary school in Scotland. She spelt her name wrong (she was in grade 1) but the embroidery is 1st class. Maybe the fossil record will show that females werenβt entirely useless at one stage in the distant past.
[β]teslaistheshit9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
That's how education taught the value of gender roles in relationships. I'm 46 and recall taking shop classes and wood working while girls were in home economics. It's really sad that society is teaching boys to be girls and girls to be boys.
[β]Hitlers_Gas_Bill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Teaching girls to be boys and teaching boys to be girls. Both are bad but the latter is much, much worse.

Teaching girls to be boys
Tomboys were incredibly popular. It was an advantage to a plain girl over prettier competition. A girl who knew about cars and guns? Who could throw a ball and run properly? They were rarer than henβs teeth. If they were pretty as well β game over. She had the male world in the palm of her hand.
[β]Hitlers_Gas_Bill0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You make a good point about tomboys but I think u/teslaistheshit is talking about aggressive, masculine women who are very career>family-oriented.
[β]teslaistheshit1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Exactly. Don't take my word for it though and just look up testosterone level decreasing in generations https://www.forbes.com/sites/neilhowe/2017/10/02/youre-not-the-man-your-father-was/#644d778c8b7f
[β]boytjie1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
I am not disagreeing with you (if you read it like that it was unintentional). I was just remembering how impressed my friends and I were with tomboys and how popular they were with other boys.
Edit: Jordan Peterson has summarised the research and has interesting things to say about the hierarchies of lobsters and their serotonin levels (a lobster nervous system is the same as a humans). This may be complementary to testosterone levels as theyβre linked.

We still had this when I was in primary school about 20 years ago. Not sure what they do now, they probably have somekind of multicultural sensitivity classes or something.

I graduated in 2015 from a small town school that offered woodworking, welding, cooking, home economics, etc. I took all of them and learned a load of valuable skills.

The way I see this page is you are trying to make a place that someone stressed would want to come home to. The main issue people would have with this is that this is from the view of a stay at home mom when in our day and age both parents work most of the time.

lmao and some guys say it was worst in the 50-60s. No at one point women were atleast somewhat able to deal with. not to say they havenβt always been AWALTS
[β]Sir_manalot7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Exactly, somewhat.
The 50-60s we're still awful relationship wise really and worse in many ways still.
Women still fucked Chad, chased gold diggers, nagged, disrespectes you, were much more expensive and still saw there husbands as a beta (rarely fucking them). They just didn't cheat as often, were openly hoatile, hid it better or leave as quickly.
Actually that is the worst part, women opted to make there husbands miserable instead of leave them and suck up all of there money instead of a percentage.
Also, you have to remember that these kinds of things are blue pill garbage. Akin to the Disney fantasy bullshit advice we have these days. Most of it is how to chameleon tips, virtue signalling for status (good wives were the high status for women back then) or ways to convince young men to wife up a bitch before they wise up on the truth of what women are (with a legal document ensuring he can never leave).
I mean, Russia has schools to train women to be like this, but in the end it ends up being about gold digging.

How did the world change so fast ??? π³
[β][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Ridiculous aint it? For 1900 years we were doing tons better but once the late 1900s came in, it only took a couple of decades to completely destroy it.
[β]johndover10 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep. We can thank the Socialists for this.
[β]XteveMcQueen9 points10 points11 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I would have laughed at that in my 20βs but reading it in my 50βs realize that it would be the best thing ever. Unfortunately Iβve never known a woman to have created or provided this. I imagine that women would cringe reading this when in fact it is probably the most loving expression they could ever offer their partner.
[β]SlowJellyfish14 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women use to be the prize BECAUSE they did all that. Or at least tried.
[β]teslaistheshit3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
It's not a lot of effort. I'd stayed in marriage if my ex displayed any of those on the list. Hell I even told her to fake that she wanted me home when I arrived. Bitch couldn't even do that.
[β]XteveMcQueen0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Totally agree.
[β]fantatram4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If times were like this, by all means, I would love to get married and enjoy life such as it stated. However, fast forward to today, I would come home to a messy home with an ice cream indulged couch ridden female watching Netflix asking her what I am buying her for dinner. Fuck that.
[β]ORJUAN_SC2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Damn, imagine how freaked out people would be if this got mainstream now
more women would be happier; and also, men... ugly feminist would freak out because they would still be the only one's not happy.
