It all comes down to values. Perhaps he didn’t want to work that job. Selling your soul for the money may be of value to you, but it seems he doesn’t think the same way.
[–]BadDad0123413 points14 points15 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Too true. Having a job that pays great doesn't mean shit if you're unhappy. And a good reminder. I'll never be rich but I'm striving towards happiness and that's all I care about
[–]OptimalAdhesiveness3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah exactly, to some it's not worth the trade off. They'll die at 48 from a stress induced heart attack. But they'll be rich when they do it!
[–]ncarolina661 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, and don't forget his mourning crying, and now VERY rich wife will be getting boned by a new cock in less than 6 months, too!

He seems somewhat happy
Good for him. He lives the life he chose. That's his Own Way.
[–]fagotgreenflem20 points21 points22 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If he didn't want it, then nothing was wasted.
[–]eduardkoopman16 points17 points18 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with your comment.
What about wasted potential?
Wasted, for whom? Not for him (if he doesn't feel like wasting something). Then, it's maybe wasted for: society or family members that want to mooch of him? But what does society do back atm for a man in the West? Not much, if any. Just gotta pay up on taxes, so they can fund their wellfare programms for single moms and other things like that. And society might screw him over, if he ever got married and divorced or has children. And society will send him (by force possibly) to a war battlefield if shit goes down. And one could go on, and on, and on..

Eh I'm going to suggest my sons value purpose over pay. In the end money is just a tool for resources nothing more. If your relative is happy than he's living a good life.
[–]egotisticalautist10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I know I would take happiness over potential tbh
[–]TheSud0076 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As long as he's happy that's what matters. Myself personally I'd taken that job but money means a lot more to me than others
[–]BobbingForBunions5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I always encourage men to accumulate assets. I also encourage them to start businesses because the earnings potential is through the roof.
But that's just because money is important to me.
Priorities vary from man to man. And so ultimately (to steal from Joseph Campbell), I encourage men to follow their bliss. If that path means being happy without assets, so be it.

There are different forms of wealth.

Potential of what ? Slave of the gynocentric world?
[–]rollinterror6662 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We all have different motivations for living. Once you make enough to maintain your basic needs the excess money you accrue doesn't really increase your happiness
[–]JigglyFats21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is serious wisdom. I live my life by this policy and have been so much happier since. Do I struggle still? Sure. But there's an understanding and calmness that comes with it that is profound enough to make up for the hardships.
[–]SpecJoeMagic6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's a great message. I could probably work harder and make a lot more money but then I'd have to sacrifice more of my free time and sanity to pay more taxes into a gynocentric society that hates me. Instead, I've chosen the life of a minimalist MGTOW with less work and more free time. Sure, I have to give up some luxuries, but it's worth it for the feeling of contentment.
Also, I'm not always happy, but I believe that it's impossible to achieve anyway regardless of how much wealth someone has. Besides, wealth doesn't necessarily bring happiness. Plenty of very wealthy people have committed suicide. I understand that a certain level of wealth is needed to provide basic necessities and a few personal desires, but there are diminishing returns at a certain point

To an extent it's not how much you make but what you do with what you make. Even millionaires go broke

After graduate school with a business degree and after spending almost two years trying to get even a decent paying job in corporate America, I've spent the last few weeks researching becoming an electrician and I'm looking at other trades.

What if I haven't been happy with my life yet?
[–]LotBuilder0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I am grateful that my passion pays really well but if it didn’t I’d be happy with what I like. Like most guys, it doesn’t take much to make me really happy.

yall got any suggestions for a nice suit and pants to go along? i dont really know what price range they are in but im looking for something that good, so like 1200-1500?

r/humblebrag
[–]PMmepicsofyourtits4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A big chunk of being MGTOW is financial independence. A good job with low spending (you don't need much when it's just you) lets you stack up the cash.
[+]fat_lesbians_lul-7 points-6 points-5 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
if 1200 is a brag then yalls is broke
[–]koolmagicguy7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
$1,200 for a suit is wasteful. Broke =/= frugal
[+]fat_lesbians_lul-8 points-7 points-6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
yalls just envious lmao
[–]blississolitude4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
envious
you misspelled contemptuous.
TBH nothing wrong with a $1200 suit if that's what you're into. That's what I'd consider a mildly expensive but not outrageous suit. I expect my next suit will be in the range you posted. Hell, a traditional bespoke suit could be 4–5 times that price easily.
What's silly is your trying to insult strangers who don't want what you want. By saying that you think people envy you, you actually reveal your insecurity about yourself because you want people to envy you. Just makes you seem like you're trying to show off. If you were secure, you wouldn't be bragging and putting others down. If men envied you, they wouldn't be saying sensible things like "frugal is not broke".
But whatever, if that's how you want to be, that's your style: GYOW. I'm just saying, how it looks to others isn't how it looks in your head.
