I wonder how many men could have been saved if they had had just one male friend or mentor to talk to.
Men who are going through difficult times: hold on there, stay strong. Talk to a close male friend. If you have a father or uncle to confide in, do so. Whatever happens, DON'T seek support from a female. Not even a professional. Female psychologists are useless.

I mean yes to all of the above except if your last option is jumping off a cliff or talking to a female mental health professional.....I say talk to her. You can always find another person at a later time. You can't unjump a cliff.

We have to stay together.

The whole thing about women attempting more than men is complete bullshit. Women seek attention by any means possible. They take like 10 ibuprofen and claim suicide.

My old boss's daughter tried with laxatives.

Top that to the fact that they'd call the cols on a guy spreading his kegs on a subway.

It’s not hard times, the times are just filled with cold people.
100%

And when someone does try to create a support structure for men, feminists screech that it's sexist and eventually get it shut down.
[–]MeagoDK2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Then males point it out and feminists would say "do something about it and make it yourself"

That edit OP made is really a huge part of what is wrong with men’s issues in society. If men want to talk about issues that primarily affect men, even in overwhelmingly disproportionate numbers, there always needs to be a disclaimer about how it isn’t an attack on women.
Without this, most people would completely disregard the opinion and do everything in their power to shame and discredit the speaker. At the same time, this allows women complete control of the narrative, as any men’s issue is required to be framed within the context of “this has nothing to do with women, women are wonderful” both as a means of blame shifting and redirecting attention.
On the other side of the coin, when women’s issues are discussed, it is perfectly acceptable and even encouraged to point to men and “the patriarchy” as the crux of the issue. Any dissent to that mentality compels the herd to attack and discredit the dissenter.
Of course, the reality of life is that both men and women can be culpable in each other’s issues, but they can never be solved (by design) if only one party is allowed to bear any criticism (men).

I think it's an embodiment of this sub (kind of): we don't hate women, we hate what they're doing

It's a shame a lot of male teen already depressive. We live in the worst possible time.

I think part of the problem is a lot of us guys would almost rather get to that point then to try to bother someone with our problems. Like even going through my divorce. The moment it happened all her friends and her mom knew all about it. The only person for months that knew anything was my best friend who had also had some marriage problems before. I was too ashamed to tell my parents.. plus when it started my mom found out she had breast cancer and had a link removed, then both breasts . So yeah I didn't want to give them something else to worry about. Luckily even before that when my self esteem was crap, when I knew we were at beginning of the end I had some people in my life who made me feel valuable.. they didn't even realize how much that helped

I care! Depression is terrible and I really wish there were less of a stigma against men expressing emotions. Im sure it would make things easier.
I do have a curious question though: anyone here who genuinely dislikes/distrusts women, does part of that dislike/distrust come from resentment regarding these issues? I haven’t really been exposed to such a community in my life and would love to pick someone’s brain in an attempt to learn more about these views. I want to disclose that I hold no strong opinion for nor against the views/theme of this subreddit. I’m only trying to understand it, put myself in someone else’s shoes, and maybe improve myself (as a woman and future therapist) in the process.
Any responses are very much appreciated. Thank you for your time! :)
