I made this argument in my bp days to a woman I was dating. She told me it was sexism; powerful white men apparently feel threatened by women, so they’d rather hire a bro and pay him more and maintain the patriarchy. I was like that makes no sense, why would you make your labor cost 30% higher, willfully, even if you are a sexist, wouldn’t you want to exploit women even more for profit? I was called a sexist at that point and she didn’t talk to me for a week.

Projecting. It's women who feel threatened by men. The only time I am ever threatened by women is when they yield unnatural power over me through their control of white knight simps.
[–]Mazdumundi45 points46 points47 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
To be fair, expect a mandatory government wage gap if the sistahood takes over. Of course. It'll be in womens favour.
All the "patriarchy" crap is just feminist projecting how they would want to run things

*wield, they'd never yield power : D
wield = possess something and use it as a weapon
yield = give something up

[–]Reversevagina19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
You should have asked what's stopping women from mirroring the same company with 100% women employees and outperforming them with lower overall costs. :edit: I can't type lol

why would you make your labor cost 30% higher, willfully, even if you are a sexist
To not be called a sexist. Hence the number of jobs like HR with a majority of women doing a shitty job.

Honestly I will play devils advocate so plz no downvotes! This guy can't even defend his point vs basic counter argument vs some basic girl.
She told you why, you ignored it and just repeated "it makes no sense why would they do that" to which she had to repeat the same answer a second time "powerful white men feel threatened by woman and prefer to bro out with the bros".
Honestly you were the asshole here for just repeating "it makes no sense" instead of fallowing with her argument that the reason they overpay for labor is to avoid feeling threatened around woman and to bro out with the boys.
If you think about it, the guy that hires at the big corporation is not the guy that will pay you anyway.
TLDR: She had a legit argument which you ignored and repeated "it makes no sense" after she explained why it makes sense.
[–]mgtowmale4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
"But muh patriarchy!" is not a legitimate argument. It is a boogieman. How does one argue against "but patriarchy!"? There are no facts, there is no evidence. The patriarchy is not a real thing.
In my experience it's more accurate to say that men generally do not like working with women, more than are intimidated by them. But then, you'd have to ask yourself why men wouldn't like working with women. And whatever you find out, would be grounds to slam the men for being "sexist". Which, again, is not an argument. Like "butpatriarchy!" it is designed to shut down conversation.
Which is why we can't have legitimate conversations or debates.
P.S. I love the fact you called OP an asshole for saying something you don't like. This is just so typical. I don't like what you said... can I call you an asshole, too? Or would I be doing that to simply shut down conversation - like saying "but patriarchy!" or "you're sexist!"?
[–]Plazma_doge1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I never said anything about patriarchy or sexism. He was asshole in this specific situation not because i disagree(there is no wage gap) but because he ignored the counter argument and repeated the same question.
In my experience it's more accurate to say that men generally do not like working with women, more than are intimidated by them.
This was pretty much her response to which he has no response (very easy to counter as you did).
This is why he was the asshole, did not listen and counter the response.. instead kept repeating his argument.
We can't have conversation when the person I am talking with ignores my counter argument and repeats his argument. What am I suppose to do repeat my answer?

You haven’t worked as a manager before have you at one of these mega corps. Your bonus at the middle management level is directly tied to your cost savings. If you could get 3 trained monkeys at 1/2 total price to do the work of 2 people at full price, you’d get a bonus proportional to your cost savings. Hence it’s in your personal best interest to have an all female team. But go ahead and keep WK friend.
[–]Plazma_doge-1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Stopped reading at "you have not worked as manager"
You argue and start attacking me? I am not here to argue, just to explain why you were the retard in the interaction, in fact you being right has nothing to do with my response.
I disagree with her and what I said went compleatly over your head just like when she countered you and you entered a loop like some NPC in game ignoring her argument and repeating the same argument like a monkey.
You said "X makes no sense"
She sais "makes sense because"
You said "x makes no sense"
..... you were the idiot monkey and being right about the subject won't change that fact. No need to try to argue me to prove how smart and right you are, just following other opinions without begin able to counter the simplest of arguments is not a sign of intelligent.
Go ahead and downvote this after it goes over your head too.
If you will replay go back and replay to my original post but this time try to the ponts made instead of arguing about payment. My replay was not even about women getting paid more or less......
My replay was about your interaction and how you ignored her answer and counter argument.
But hey go ahead and tell me why you were right again. It's not something I don't know but whatever makes you feel superior and smart.

The wage gap has been debunked more times than I can count. The wage gap only exists if you take the *total average* of all wages earned by men and all wages earned by women in every single field. Men typically take on more dangerous jobs like working in the oil fields, nuclear plants, construction, etc., and men dominate STEM fields like the sciences, engineering, etc. Women on average dominate lower paying roles like daycare workers, teachers, administration, etc. So if you average out the wages of every single man and every single woman regardless of what field they work in, you get a type of wage gap.
The biggest flaw in their argument is that it all comes crashing down when you compare the wages of a man and woman who work in the same field. Equally qualified women almost always make the same amount of money as equally qualified men when doing the same job. In the cases where a man and woman work the same job and the man makes more, it's often because men are more likely to negotiate salaries than women.
In the United States, it's been illegal to pay women less based on their sex since 1963, so that's another hole in the argument.
And women also take more time off for birthing children and staying at home with the kids when they're younger.
The obvious solution to this made-up problem is for more women to work in the oil fields, engineering, etc. There's nothing actually stopping them, so the wage gap argument has no merit.
[–]harpoonkamasutra3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
the sad thing is that it had to be debunked in the first place.
I mean, you would think people would think for themselves and notice immediately that its not true, but I underestimated just how gullible a majority of people are.

If you say there is a wage gap between surgeons and office clerks people say it’s normal. When you say there is a wage vape between people on Manhattan and some rural village, nobody has a problem understanding. If you say that some people working in office make much more than surgeons of course people knows. And nobody has a problem to acknowledge that people from rural areas can outearn certain population of Manhattan dwellers.
Yet you put women into this and suddenly is a patriarchy and “unbelievable”

I wish I could do the same. My assistant is a woman and there are so many problems. She always has to take days off for the kid and now she's having another kid, will need maternal leave. BTW I am fully on point with the argument on the marker board. In fact, Milton Friedman and Thomas Sowell were dropping this truth bomb nearly 40 years ago on Donahue and William F. Buckley's "Firing Line".
Here we are 40 years later and people still regurgitate the wAgE gAp myth. Why? Because the Left continues to control our educational system and other cultural levers of power, like the media in general. It makes brain washing every generation very simple.

I built and acquired some businesses they required me to employ about 30 customer service agents. In that industry it’s 95% female. My manager gave me a bunch of daily benchmarks of what I could expect in terms of production. I ended up hiring a male CSR that had moved here from out of state. A quiet Vietnamese American. After a short training period they cut him loose and his production was 70% above those benchmarks. He was diligent and probably above average for men but he absolutely lapped the women who were then scrambling for excuses. Suddenly their production increased 20’ish % after they had claimed to have been at full capacity. I didn’t have a female employee that was within 30% of him.

This was always astonishing to me, how so many people arent capable to make a simple logical conclusion. Why would a greedy company hire a man and pay him more money when they can hire a woman?
This is also where I sort of gave up believing that things will get better. People are just that stupid, we have to accept that, its not really their fault.
Even when you manage to explain this issue to as many people as possible and somehow manage to explain a few other issues to them as well, they will still fall for the next lie thats gonna come from the people in power.

I brought this up during coffee break at work few years ago... Never seen such incomfortable silence...
Just recently got to know comedian Maddox has done a youtube clip on it too which sums it up good, just youtube search "maddox wage gap"
Now in the case a woman actually does a job just as well as a man, I actually think she should be paid slightly more than a man. This because being a working woman, to put it bluntly, seems to suck (hormonal and immunity issues; bleeding down there for almost a week a month, etc...) So they should, in my opinion, have some compensation for the unfortunate biology they have been provided with by nature.
However such compensation probably already exists indirectly in most industrial societies. I know that in my country with state provided healthcare services, women use up over 70% of the resources. They also use sick insurance and paid time off work far more often, so...

The wage gap is a myth. It's an earnings gap that exists between male and female.
My job is in a female dominated field, it's unionized and so wages are defined across the board regardless of gender. But I and other male co-workers easily out earn our female counterparts by 1.75x-2x annual gross pay because men are eager to pickup OT and extra shifts. No woman does that because she is eager to go home and spend time with her family. Nothing wrong with wanting to do that instead of working more hours, but don't blame the patriarchy for wage oppression and inequality.
