Double standard? A woman (29/f) tried to get me (35/m) to fix her car for free

About a year ago, I bump into this woman who started an conversation with me. We talked for about an hour. I liked her, so I asked for her number.

When I tried to text her later that evening, i got “wrong number” reply.

Can’t say I was too surprise. But I did noticed her profile showed up on my Facebook which was odd.

I let it go.

Few weeks ago, we bumped into each other again. I have little interest in talking to her. But she persisted. So I figured the wrong number must have been a innocent mistakes.

We start to chat more. Last week, we went out for brunch. At that point she brought up her car problem.

Since I’m a mechanic, I figured she somehow found out. So I was very cautious. I keep shrugging and told her she can bring it to a shop or look up the problem on the internet.

At end of the date, she wasn’t as nice or friendly as she was at first. So I figured this was the end of her.

I was pretty disappointed but not surprised.

Few days later she texted me all friendly again. I didn’t have a good feeling about this. So I just humor her to see where she’s going.

On Saturday, we met for lunch. She didn’t brought up her car issue until almost end. She asked me if I can stop by her house sometime next weekend. She made it clear she will be busy but she need me to look at her car. Afterward, we can go out to eat.

I turned her down and told her if she want to do this, she have to pay me what she’d pay at the shop.

She stormed out.

Yesterday and today I got message from two friends who know her. They weren’t happy about me not wanting to work on her car.

One of them told me that if I was nicer to her, she’d see what a good person I am and I’d have a chance (yeah right...)

Other was telling me I’m greedy and only after money! When I turn the table on her by telling her that it is just as bad that this woman was trying to lead me on so she can get her car fix! I got told that I can’t judge her and I’m just assuming thing!

Yeah... I’m pretty pissed! Yes I’m a mechanic. But I don’t feel like it is okay for women to date me or lead me on in order to get me to do something for her!

Am I wrong for refusing to fix her car?

Tldr;

A woman seems to pretend she’s interested in me so I’d fix her car. I refused and now I’m the bad guy?
