Nope. Just like every viral scare, it’s the job, of the CDC (in the U.S. to keep the public appraised of health concerns).

Despite zombie movies, buy a viral mask if it is a concern. I travel often, and I buy a box of them. It is two fold.

Make sure your body is prepared well for any fight.

I've noticed that when I stick diligently to my vitamin and nutritional supplement regimen that I don't tend to get sick when many around me are and if I do happen to catch something that the severity is never that bad. We live in a world where it is hard to get optimal nutrition from regular food sources.

The second I saw it in the news, my first reaction was to see what is so important political-wise that they wish to hide it with another virus scare.

If the end of society as we know it is started by a virus, China or India would be the best place to kickoff, however, that virus didn't wipe a large chunk of their population (yet) so nothing to worry about.

A societal collapse by virus is unlikely. But considering these outbreaks are originating from China, it's likely that they're doing dry runs for bio weapons. Swine flu, bird flu, now Corona, they're doing massive studies, gathering a lot of data, and building plans for potential viral weapons they have cooking up. The nuclear arms race is one they're always going to lose. But a virus they can vaccinate themselves against and spread among their enemies would be much more insidious.

Humans do stupid things... To me looks like a perfect storm possible, but sometimes they disapate.

really its not a question of if, but when.

Depends on the mutation, and if it gets past the control attempts.

As of last night it was in 13 provinces, over 500 in hospitals, and in five maybe six countries, and infection rate had tripled. And they think there are two forms, a less and a more virulent type at the same time.

Its in the same family as SARS, there is no vaccine for anything in that family.

The biggest danger is arrogance on the part of experts in the system.

But dont worry! WHO had another meeting!

And what happens if it gets into a third world area with lazy doctors who string things along to harvest more money?

And what happens from there if it gets into illegal migrants and then homeless living unsanitary and unhealthy, and then being crowded into dorms...

No one knows.... but I can guess.

Most people, if they would get infected, would just weather it like a common cold - IE headache, fever. The human immune system can fight this. But the weakened (and apparently pregnant women especially) are at risk. China is trying to nip this in the bud, but I think the window of opportunity had already closed on that.

This isn't the black plague however. Calm down.

Similar fear mongering that the swine-flu had. Very small amount of people will die from it and life will continue as normal.
