I got it from several soldier WW2 memoirs. Obviously those could be exaggerated, but there is a commonality between all of them. Also discussed it in a history course I took when the world wars were covered.
The Dutch, for example when liberated by the Americans/Brits/Canadians, shaved the heads, publically shamed and pretty much forced women who banged german soldiers to leave their towns.
While a lot of people lived not the greatest under Nazi rule, these women lived significantly better by whoring themselves to the Germans. When the Allies arrived and their townfolk shamed them, they basically turned around and whored to the Americans to get accepted. Why do you think of a ton of women started relationships with Americans in particular after the war and then moved to the U.S.? Basically, they rolled over quite literally for germans, got shunned, didn't want to help rebuild, rolled over for Americans and then rode the gravy train back to the states away from war torn europe.
