The toilet seat double standard was honestly one of my first redpills about how some genders are more equal than others. None of them are earth shattering or "oppressing" but it was the first crack in the "everyone is equal" wall I was forced to stare at constantly as a child. Here's a few others I noticed as a kid

Had to line up for lunch in alphabetical order, but girls before boys for no reason at all
Cute little comments from teachers about something girls were better than boys at (but NEVER the inverse)
Late 80's male bashing in sitcoms and commercials, even stuff catered to kids my age. Nothing compared to what is there today but the seeds were there
The general idea of the female characters in sitcoms not being "wacky" or "funny" like the men were, and were always smarter or just "normal". Lisa Simpson is a great example.

As a kid, I would innocently bring this up to my mom and get nothing but angry noises back. My first exposure to feminism.

I knew only a female would have the head problem and social approval to be able to insult women in the bathroom. Turns out the shift worker at gym was a lady.

Back in the day when I had a gf in university, I would be over her place many times and I got called out for this. Fair enough, it was a house full of girls and I lived in my place full of guys. I started putting both lids down instead of just the seat. I knew they didn't like it but they didn't complain after that, or she knew better and didn't bring up these complaints again to me at least!

I “solved” this problem. After getting sick and tired of constantly being bitched out about leaving it up because “they fell in” when sitting down because they were in a hurry and did look, or getting bitched at for sprinkles I left down and not wiped after, or even getting bitched at because even though I did wipe the seat it was “still damp” so my solution was ok new policy, both seat and lid has to go down after EVERY use by ANY gender. They hate it, but usually do it because they know they have lost. Plus now gives me something to bitch at them about, to show how stupid they were bing, if they leave the lid up after peeing.

In my workplace, we have our own restrooms, but all the guys always put the toilet seat down. There was never a time where it is up.
