Ant colonies are all half sisters, while the queen is a mother. There are a handful of male drones that are completely dependent on the females, sometimes even for feeding. All they do is contribute sperm. Once the are done with that they are usually driven from the colony and die.
In bee colonies the male drones usually die while inseminating the queen. If there are drones in a colony when they are unwanted, the stingless males are driven out and starve. Queens will mate with up to dozen males on her nuptial flight and never mate again and rule and found colonies until she is killed, usually by her daughters.

Actually after the drone ejaculates into the queen, His endo-phallus if ripped out and remains inserted in the queen. The drone dies and the next drone that comes along removes the used endo-phallus, inserts his and ejaculates. This is repeated up to 7 or 8 times on the queen's virgin flight. They contribute 0 sperm to their own colony. The queen is their mother after all. The drones leave the nest when conditions are appropriate, find a winged virgin Queen and mate with her. Depending on the species the queen will mate from 1 to more than 20 times with different drones. And then she will start a new colony. For extremely long lived ant species the queen will make again after a few years. But she will never mate with her own sons.
