Technically and historically, dowry has always been a form of payoff to the prospective husband. More of a statement of 'here, I'll pay you to get this woman out of my house. Take the money. Just get her the fuck out. Your problem now Mr. Husband, not mine.'

There was a reason for it. And it was usually some form of money to either get the couple a start in life, or at least some compensation for the guy if the chic ran off to ride the CC.

True. And it's pretty bad in India. What many don't know is that the ENTIRE FAMLIY can be locked up. Their legal system does not work like ours. Grandfathers have been dragged out of bed, sick, and put in jail, because the women accused the family of having asked for dowry.

I know that there is a lot of men blaming going around, but I really have to ask this:

If men are to be blamed for anything, I think it's for not standing up for their own rights. Why are we letting women do this?

In the end, it's other MEN enforcing this bullshit. There are tons of male family court judges. The judge in Canada, Marvin Zuker, who was going on a feminist rant in the court room and almost ruined a man's life for nothing was MALE.

We really, really have to wake up: We are doing this to EACH OTHER. Our dominance bullshit makes us destroy ourselves. Evolutionary, we just competed with other men. If we could beat down another man, that gave us mating prospects. But now, when we beat down other men, it gets written into LAW. It not only hurts other men we "compete against", it hurts our sons, our fathers, our brothers.

I find it absolutely disgusting what is going on worldwide.

And even many people who oppose feminism do not nearly go far enough. They think that it's some kind of "culture war", that we only have to make enough feminist cringe videos on YouTube and then we "won" - or something.

This goes so much deeper than that. We men have killed each other for women since the dawn of humanity. Hell, even in primates there is research indicating that female monkeys will instigate fights and shun any males who did not participate.

We have been programmed, by nature, to be violent, on behalf of women. This seriously needs to stop. The sentencing bias is insane. It's about 60% for federal crimes, between men and women, for similar crimes with similar criminal history (see Sonja Starr, 2013, University of Michigan School of Law).

We are insane. Yes, WE. We men are absolutely f*cking NUTS. We could stop this overnight. If men refused to go along with this, there is NOTHING women could do. They are not the police men, the firefighters, the marines, or anyone manning the positions that deliver the muscle to enforce all this bullshit.

It's insane. I had two of my friends commit suicide after being absolutely crushed in courts. And it was all transparent lies.

We have, objectively, abandoned the rule of law. Courts are now there to punish men and hand shit to women, by and large.

Again: Why are we doing this to ourselves?

While I understand the sentiment being portrayed here, family not paying the full dowry have often resulted in either the women getting killed or seriously injured, but yes marrying a man just for his money is despicable.
