One example I've seen in a literal engineering interview. I explained the problem to a young female candidate and told her to go for it.

General expectation of these types of interviews is candidate would 1) brainstorm different kind of solutions 2) talk about pro/con of different solutions 3) actually implement one solution.

The girl did make some initial efforts at solution, but what then happened was almost mind-blowing. Every time she hit some roadblock, she would say sth like "this is a problem" or "this is a difficulty" and then look at me expectantly. I had to keep asking her "ok, what then" every minute, again, as she looks at me expectantly.

There was about 10 minutes that was almost surreal. I kept thinking "I'm expecting the girl to give a solution, not a repetition of the problem" and wasn't entirely sure what was going on. Only now do I realize what's going on in her head. She's probably thinking "I'm describing a problem, the solution just appears, why is it not appearing?" We're literally talking about a job interview here.

Fellow men, it's not worth it, you don't get anything for supplying the solution, there is no appreciation, it is simply expected.
