I’m with ya my man. I’m a single dad, I’ve been married before, have a good relationship with my ex, was an equal split, no hard feelings. But I love being on my own. I date, I like dating, but I much prefer the freedom of my life on my own. Travel alone, have my own hobbies, it feels like freedom. I’ve met amazing women, but the relationship will eventually end because they want more. It causes heartbreak sometimes in all honesty, but I’m not willing to give up the life I’ve built for myself and my son for anyone. I’ve even met a couple unicorn girls, but I just can’t live that life anymore, it’s not me. I’m such a better man being on my own.

Having your time, freedom, money, and personality stripped away and held hostage(divorce and you lose things) little by little over the course of time by another person is about the worst lifestyle a person can live. And your attraction from the outside world approaches zero because you are BORING. No thank you...I have the t-shirt.

MGTOW is about making rational and common-sense decisions based on red-pilled knowledge for myself, taking into account my needs and hopes.

Looking at marriage as a cost/benefit analysis, marriage is a bad deal. Now, sometimes bad deals pay off (e.g. playing the lottery is a bad deal, but some people win the lottery.)

The deciding factor is: "how much do I need to marry?" That's the question society doesn't have us ask. There is just this assumption that men and women get married. There is even the claim that "you'll be lonely if you marry", despite the evidence of many many unhappy and lonely married people.

Marriage isn't for me, and it isn't for many people. MGTOW is the freedom to say "I'm going my own way" and know there are lots of other people who are like-minded.

But I'm not "anti-marriage". "Anti-marriage" means, to me, being against marriage for other people. I'm not. Marriage isn't for me, but it might be for others. Others might look at the evidence, and, weighing that with their own needs and hopes, come to the perfectly rational decision to marry. And fair enough too. I wish them well.

What annoys me is that few people (outside MGTOW of course) talk about the costs of marriage/divorce. Society is happy to tell us about all the benefits, but none of the costs. That's like a shady car salesperson. When it comes to marriage, society is a shady car salesperson.

This is the reason in a nutshell why I prefer and am happier living alone. When I was married many years ago my daily life was a series of compromises one after another, until at the end I was doing mostly what my wife wanted to do and very little of what I wanted to do. She was outgoing and social and enjoyed concerts, plays, fundraisers and group activities, while I enjoyed carpentry, cooking, investing and real estate. We ostensibly stayed together for the sake of our mentally disabled daughter and divorced when she was 19 and placed permanently in a small long term care facility. We didn't hate each other; we just had nothing in common anymore. I couldn't even comprehend the freedom of being on my own alone at first, and have never considered another relationship. Life is too good.

I'm with you. I talked to a friend yesterday. He was crying and stressing over a short-term relationship with a woman who had all sorts of issues. They'd had problems (of course), they'd had communication issues, the problems had triggered issues in both of them. He was really upset and obsessed about the whole thing, even though it had ended months ago.

I tried to be a friend to him, but inside I was thinking, "God what a mess." I'm so grateful that my life is peaceful. I don't have to deal with all that complication, drama, and stress.

I like to walk alone. But I also like to fuck. You can do both.

I love women, but I don't let any one woman have control over my financial or mental health.

I get the feeling that a LOT of mgtow2's in this sub are actually what most people refer to as hermits (or recluse). I see so many posts on here about actually preferring to be alone, dreaming of a cabin in the woods, away from everyone, etc.

And "mgtow" is just a handy way to deny the fact that they have always been hermits.

I like people and I like women. I'm still mgtow tho, because I don't let anyone control my life.

But I am not alone--I have friends, I like to go out, I like to party, etc. This sub seems to really really like being alone.

But hey, the beauty of mgtow is you get to go YOUR OWN way. Just some of you all really need to realize you are probably hermits, regardless of societal rules.
