You are dangerous to men. If you and I were married you could, at any moment and for no reason other than boredom or whimsy, file for a divorce and get half of my assets (even if you had nothing and married into money), lifetime alimony, the marital home, primary or even sole custody of the children, and if you were feeling particularly vindictive you could throw in a false domestic abuse charge just to sweeten the pot for yourself. Not only can you do this, you are financially and socially incentivised to do so. You could, for no reason, destroy my life to rah-rah chants of how "stunning and brave" and "empowered" you are. Would you do that? Not necessarily, but statistically its a coin flip.

I'm not willing to bet my life on a coin flip. 50 years of constantly acquiescing to women's demands for "equality" (when it suits them) have resulted in a system where men stand to gain nothing from getting marriage and everything to lose in divorce, and women stand to gain everything from getting divorced with no downsides. It's an unconscionable contract. The only way to win is not to play. The game is so unwinnable all we can do is take our ball and go home.

Hi I'm 40 years old and live off grid I'm a inventor, engineer and green home builder.

I was engaged at 30 to a single mom, but after spending a week together before the wedding, I was attacked by her ex-boyfriend. Not father of child just another guy she had on the side and slept with after she kicked me out so she can settle things with him but stayed outside for her protection because her ex assaulted her a month ago. But she still wanted to be with him eventhough she wanted to be with me and always asked for help afterwards we broke it off, until I ghosted her.

Also a few years later my best friend got married had 2 kids, but was laid off but found another job in a few weeks but didn't pay that much. Wife filed for divorce, full custody and the house eventhough she didn't work at all, Best friend had to pay more than he earned to alimony and child support and mortgage for house he wasn't allowed to live in. Then because of late and unpaid payments to her he was thrown into jail the rest of his life, even when he was released he couldn't pay back payments and set back to jail.

So I like to live a free life away from anyone that can take my freedom away and not freedom of sex but freedom for actually allowed to live.

Sex is easy to get today don't have to do much except stay in shape it's the unfair laws that stops men from committing.

I wouldn't label myself as a mgtow yet but my very recent breakup makes me understand why men choose this lifestyle. I invested 4 years into a relationship with a woman who I gave everything to out of love. Commitment, dedication, loyalty, spared no expenses towards her needs and wants, even structured my career around her dream lifestyle of traveling freely with no physical attachments to hold her down.

After 4 years of this, what does she come at me with? "Your stability is boring and makes me feel constrained. I want to breakup but I don't want to be responsible for the breakup." It's slap to the face, a shit in my mouth and a middle finger to everything I worked hard for both us. Thankfully, we weren't married yet, and I dropped her ass from my life. To think that she even had the face to talk to me about marriage and wedding rings...it's beyond absurd.

Why does mgtow appeal to men? Because there's a large proportion of entitled women out there who treat men like disposable piggy banks. When not fun no more, change them like socks. And maybe it's not intentional but their shitty personality manifests in that way. From my experience alone, you can bet that I won't be treating another woman the way I treated this worthless trash that found my "stability" too "boring".

I'm here because I was raised and educated by women, and becoming a man has been entirely discovery learning. Unfortunately many of the mistakes I've made along the way have long reaching consequences.

I feel like most of the guys on here are divorced. And my relationship with my wife is rapidly deteriorating.

Without going into depth. She's now fat and insufferable. I should have known that marrying someone in a communist job from a communist state (teacher from New york) would have been too indoctrinated to rescue.

So basically. I'm here because I fucked up my life and want other's experiences to gain perspective.

Basically I went MGTOW coz I find that under present laws, marriage fails the cost-benefit analysis.. (From a male perspective)

Men have very little to gain from marriage, but can potentially lose half of his assets, retirement savings, part of future income and even kids...

The studies that claim benefits of marriage to men, are flawed. In the sense, they compare married men with single men (divorced + never married)... Which is clearly an unfair comparison..
[Poor economic and health outcomes of divorced men will certainly skew the parameters in favor of married men.]

The reality is that when you weigh in 50% divorce rates and all its fallout, the minimal benefits of marriage cannot compensate for risks associated with it...

All this I knew before I even discovered the 'manosphere'...

What I was surprised to know was that, common-law marriage basically can make a man 'married' even without his consent...

That a married man is responsible for even non-biological kids born within marriage, and any kids he is manipulated into signing birth certificate...

That rape laws, DV laws are biased against men.

And feminists and society doesn't care for false allegations.. Even if men commit suicide because of them.

The Gillette 'toxic masculinity ad' led me to manosphere. Initially I tried the MRA route but soon discovered that society doesn't, and will not care, for men's issues.

That's when I discovered MGTOW... I never posted on original MGTOW subreddit but I post here...

The decision to MGTOW was a no-brainer...
But I am satisfied with the freedom and peace-of-mind it brings...

I am never going back. Even if they change the laws. (I know they wont)...
This freedom is unprecedented...

At last, I should thank feminism, which help me free myself from the shackles I never knew even existed..

Most men who reach this phase will never go back..
Your best bet is in preventing them from reaching here....

And its pretty clear from my post, censoring will not work...

I came to my conclusions independently...
I only came here coz I found like-minded people..

This is not activism... I am doing what I must..

And for some "heartbreaking story from the past?" Well, I have nothing worth mentioning, really. Of corse, everybody has some shit in the past, but nothing too traumatic.

I never was indoctrinated with "modern western society standarts" people are trying to get rid of via going OW, because I simply do not belong to modern western society. So I am either GTOW from the beginning, or never been one.

I am, I belive, good husband now, and have quite happy family life, wich I have chosen on my own account and on my own terms, when I felt that I want it for myself.

Edited to add: I am hesitant to dialogue on here ‘publicly’ as I think the communication risks becoming performative, and I don’t want to cop the negative externalities that can accompany a group mindset towards outsiders. I’d rather do it privately so I can understand individual experiences. I appreciate anyone’s openness to a respectful dialogue so I can better understand.
