I sleep in a California King Tempurpedic. Huge down comforter and King feather pillows every where. I'm all over that thing, sleep like a baby. It's also good to wake up alone in the morning with nobody plotting my demise. Lol.

Good for you, man! Personally, I got rid of my queen-sized bed when I moved almost two years ago after selling my condo and this is the first time a thought of not having it has crossed my mind. Guess sleeping on a futon is more, comfortable, lol. But yeah, unless you're planning to have sex in your house which is stupid on so many levels, the only reason to have a big bed is when you're really enjoying it....

I downsized from a "king" to a "queen" mattress. I'd have gone smaller but I couldn't find the kind of mattress I wanted that size.

It gives me more space in my bedroom. I have no plans to have women over so that wasn't a consideration.

Then again I'm older and a really nice mattress makes a difference in how I feel when I wake up.

My advice is to to avoid wasting money but don't cheap out when it comes to quality of life. I drive a car from the 90s and I wear work shirts I bought for a few bucks each in a lot of 50 a few years ago. The car runs and the shirts are presentable and I bought so many they don't wear out fast.

Where I spent money was on good work boots. I bought the best I could find. They weren't cheap but I can be on my feet for 12 hours straight without hurting. As a man in his 50s that is easily worth several times the price money.

My last wife spent more on fancy coffee in a month than those boots cost, and they'll last several years before I have to get them resoled.

This is actually a coincidence because I threw away my full bed for a twin bed. Brand new I paid a $75 for it at IKEA and when I move out of state soon it'll be so easy to roll up in a bag and throw it in my car and it's actually really comfortable. Great minds think alike.

This got me thinking. One of the only reasons I asked for a double bed at my parents as a teenager was for the off chance I could bring a girl back and have space.

Now that thought isn't there, why not make more efficient use of my space. Could even move a single back into the room I have my instruments and console in. Cheers for the inspiration OP

I'm too tall to sleep in anything less than a queen. Don't cheap out on the mattress, it's where you spend 1/3 if your life. Get a good memory foam, they're cheaper than regular mattresses these days.

I sleep on the ground with a thin blanket as layer.

I've gotten so used to hard surfaces that I can now sleep anywhere in the house.

What is this single bed nonsense? A king bed for a king. You can spread out like a star and enjoy the extra long blankets all to yourself. All the pillows for the king. I need a pillow just for my balls. You are on a mission to make life as comfortable as possible for you. Only you.
