What are you doing when you retire?

I lost years of fruits of my effort and i have to restart my life progress from zero again. I found out that a man without purpose will eventually face existential crysis and turn into empty shell, that's when the real depression kick in and will haunt a person. That was the reason i keep indulging myself in pleasures and busy activities to distract my mind from asking too much questions, i was scared to face existential crysis, i was scared to ask that very question, what's the absolute purpose in life?

But what do i need to find exactly? Money? Success? Family (no marriages, having attachment is just not for me) ? And say after achieving all of that, what then? Everything feels mundane.

For now i can only conclude that my purpose and journey in life is to find the real purpose of life, not just material things but to find the bigger picture

I retired a couple years ago, at 57. Like you, I'm not someone who can just sit around, relax, play golf, and feel fulfilled. I need what I call "meaningful work." For me, that takes several forms: writing a blog, working on writing a book, reading various books that help me improve various aspects of my life, self-care, and taking care of animals.

None of that is paid work. I still consider it "work," though, because it requires sustained attention, discipline, thought, and effort. I don't need any money, so I'm free to do whatever I like, without concern for that.

I also spend plenty of time taking it easy, too -- just relaxing, pondering, farting around on the internet (like now), walking my dog, strolling in the park feeding squirrels, watching Youtube, etc. I am not a terribly ambitious person, and I don't feel any need to achieve great things in my retirement or in life generally. I like doing my little part, in my little corner of the world, and letting that be enough.

I never identified much with my career, so when I retired, it was easy to let that go and follow other interests. I currently think of myself as like a frog on a lily pad, jumping from one interest to the next, when I feel like it.

If I make it that far, I would like to find a nice property somewhere in the woods. Light fires, shoot guns, fish build shit all that fun stuff.

I'm semi retired meaning I don't have to work I'm under 40 and run multiple businesses across several sectors and some other things and I day trade. I want to branch out into consulting and mentoring for young men and maybe get more political.so I'm considering college even at my old age it's never to late I suppose.

Generally I don't care about the political nature of things or the laws or who's president.But there are unjust laws the pertain to me and after seeing how they can be overturned with persistence I think I would be interested in taking up the fight.

Im Not interested in child support or divorce laws.Its 2021 every man knows not to get married or get anyone pregnant but there are others that I find fundementally flawed.

So in summary . Political activism in court with talented lawyers not marching around the streets protesting

Looking to do something similar, homestead, relax. I figure keeping up with the land would be enough work, but maybe I’m wrong. I’d like to retire before I’m 40, and can financially but I like my job and hear a lot of men don’t enjoy the relaxing part of retirement as much as they think, so I don’t know what I’ll do. I have already purchased my retirement land so it’s something that’s been on my mind a lot lately. Very interested in hearing how other MGTOWs are doing in early retirement

Not retired yet. But what I do in my free time this year:

Learn a new science. Getting on to learning chemistry.
Learning pottery.
Learning a new language. Currently learning Portuguese. I like the idea of being able to live at least part of the year in a non-English speaking country.
Gonna make a movie. It's probably gonna suck and it's definitely not gonna make money. But hell, everyone is making movies nowadays. I can even make one for less than $1,000. I made a short film (less than 3 minutes) last autumn. I met some film director and hired him to make a $400 short film. It was a fun and interesting experience. He brought in some friends and we had fun and I made some new friends.
Learning how to play bass. It's real easy to play. Anyone with zero musical skill can learn to play bass in less than 6 months practicing half an hour to an hour every day (mastering bass is different). I'm really connecting with my bass instructor. I love the music he plays. Pretty soon I'll progress to guitar by one of his buddies. His other friend will help me learn drums too (so I made more friends).
There are baseball teams in my area. One even made up entirely of retirees (guys even in their 80s). So I'm gonna join and play this summer.
More hiking, camping, and fishing. I want to find every cool nature spot in my state and every surrounding states and spend time there. I've lived most of my life in my state, yet there are parts of it I've never seen. What a waste.
Fixing up old cars. I always wanted to learn car mechanics. So I'm gonna buy up a cheap old car and fix it. Since cars are an essential part of modern life, it's idiotic not to know the basics of fixing them.
Gonna learn more about how to live out in the woods without modern tools. This Primitive Technology guy has really inspired me to try to learn how to build things like huts and pottery without modern tools. He learned how to make bricks and cement with zero modern equipment. Fascinating. Furthermore, there are people in the youtube recommendations who are building shelters and cool things with limited resources.
Start a collection of stuff I like. Anything whether it's obscure movies I like, obscure music I like, comic books, regular books, vinyl records, old video games, action figures, etc. There's a reason why so many men are hyped up on collecting: because it's fun. Men don't collect things for money. We collect things that we know won't make us money because we enjoy them. Unfortunately, this gynocentric society has made anything men like to seem like an unhealthy addiction. Sure, men can ruin their finances on collecting: like spending too much on video games. Yet men routinely ruin their finances on women. And I don't see anyone in mainstream society to say give up on women. So I'm gonna start collecting with a passion. I feel I have enough self-control to spend wisely and not ruin my money.

So those are ten of the things I'm doing this year. What are 10 things you'll do this year that you know won't make you money? Will they be sports, movies, music, automobiles, boating, fishing?

I retire on Wednesday.

Already have a part time job lined up to start the next week outside. I kinda suck at retirement too. But at least i won’t be at another desk all day

I'm recently retired military, 38 years old. From the beginning, my plan was to make it to 20 years to access the military retirement system. Mission accomplished.

I've subsequently moved to Wyoming. I live by myself. My children live with their mother in Georgia and I continue to support them.

I've taken on retail trading for an extra source of income. I go to the gym on average 5x a week. To fill the time, I volunteer 1-3x a week to help support what social programs we do have here in the community. Instead of producing to create value for myself, I've instead focused on creating value for the community. That's a better trade for everyone involved.

I don't really plan to retire totally, I just want different ways to work that are not a 9-5 job. Because just relaxing without any work is not fulfilling to me;

Other than that, I'll be collecting vintage menswear garments and accessories, playing good story driven games and reading good books.

Retire to on a tropical Island with a small town I can turn into a modern town that looks elegant but sturdy, so an older style is in order. I'd want a helipad or an airstrip for aircraft, and a dock for a boat/ship for fisherman and travel and some farm land.

I want this island to be out of major government areas/waters and far enough away so the Lefties can't get there.

Then live there in peace.

Of course this is far off because I'm 18 but at least I've got some idea.

The method for obtaining this dream, well that's in its early days.

If retiring means “not working”, I don’t think I will.

My personal belief is life takes work no matter the arena, be it delivering and receiving market value, entertaining/entertainment, physical and mental wellbeing, etc.
