The first half is a good realization. I think that's what most people do and why most marriages end: people are looking for self fulfillment in their relationships. When they don't get it or when it's run its course, they move on.

True love is a persistent action and a choice rather than a feeling. What people refer to as love is typically just the fleeting feelings of infatuation. Typically true love is what men offer and why they off themselves when the divorce comes; they thought it was mutual and realize they've been living a lie for a long time. True love is a thing best reserved for yourself; it's the safer bet. Let women have the love they offer.

True love is a bond of unconditional trust. Does it exist in this world? Now more than ever we lie more than we breath. On social media everyone lies to be perfect, the media lie to be sensational, politicians (nothing new there) lie to get voters. Your boss lies, that cute girl you have the hots for lies, your male friend you know since u were born lies and so on. Can you trust someone, ever? If you do, both, that is love. Can it be found? That said, when a woman gets wet panties for a Genetic Alpha and goes off and fucks him, for no other reason, that might be the truest love on the plant. Everything else is rife with terms and conditions. Women love conditionally and opportunistically and that is what TRUE love is. *THEY* (blue pill zombies) say true love is either "pure" (???) or "unconditional" (no) or some other damned thing... coming from some "honest place" or "open/vulnerable place".

I would say true love is giving, and also your own goals converging with your partners to create common goals that you can achieve.

The reason that so many marriages fail is because it is actually fish love. People looking for opportunities in people that they take for love. Once a person stops having those opportunities, the other will realise they don’t need or want them anymore.

The only way to have a successful and happy marriage would be to set all that you want aside, and focus on the actual relationship with the person, regardless of what they can provide you with, so that when those things change, you don’t love them any less. (Obviously this should go both ways in order to be successful)

There's lots of personal development self help that covers this topic and shit from authors like "David Hawkins" with his "power vs force" stuff ... unconditional love is where a person has reached such a peaceful state of mind that they are capable of expressing affection and kindness without expecting anything in return. On David Hawkin's scale of consciousness this would calibrate at 500.

Any other sort of "love" is conditional love, which includes most relationships. Most romantic love is driven by a dopamine driven need to infuse "newness" and "freshness" into one's life, which is why people often like to see a different person after a year or two.. our biology craves new experiences, fresh perspectives. People who don't grow, die.. ever hear that expression? I truly believe monogamy is an old fashioned construct, not compatible with a good chunk of human beings... maybe half.

Psychoanalyst Erich Fromm best details what true love is in his treatise called "The Art of Loving." For Fromm, love isn't an object; it is a faculty. It isn't the adjective "lovable" (insofar as we all want to be lovable so we are a possible object for someone's love); is is the adjective "loving". It is an outward feeling toward all people (and creatures and Earth, depending on how holistic your perception is). I love everyone because they are the same as me. I genuinely feel this. Love is not the verb "falling," but rather, "standing." You stay in your love. You put it out onto everyone. You are love.

The other part, the falling into objectified love of lovable objects, that's consumerism. That's Tinder. That's hypergamy. That's where you will be left alone and shattered. You don't find love. You are love. The rest is a commercial.

This is what codependency and nice-guy-ism is based on (the thing he says is wrong).

Ever think you love a woman so much that you do everything for her, or want to make every event perfect? THEN THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH YOU. Let me prove it with my life past:

Say Christmas. I acted like a simp like this with a girlfriend years ago. She loved TV, and HDTV was new then. Got her a huge TV for Xmas (Im neither poor nor rich but it was a considerable sacrifice, but nothing that would break me) and DVD recorder. She loved it. That made me feel happy. I got her other things, too, to show I planned for this, thought about her, etc...sweet, girly things that all added up.

Then I had opened my presents.

A DVD. She knows I torrent everything so this is useless to me. A shitty keyboard, generic, no numpad. A dented can of Italian coffee (I rarely drink coffee) Ghirardelli chocolates, small $3 bag size A cheap "men's travel kit" with a disposable razor, useless toothbrush, plastic bag. I had a traveling job, I already owned all that shit.

What. The. Fuck.

Then it hit me. I was with her when she bought all this shit in the sale aisle of a discount store (Marshalls, Ross, whatever). She then admitted to me when I got mad as hell at her that she does this every year. In October she buys crap from the back non-clothing section of that store and then just randomly giftwraps them and gives them to family and friends.

I didn't even care about her spending less than $20 on me when I go over 1500 every year for her, it pisses me off that nothing was reciprocated and no thought was put into it (this is a woman who made good money in a hospital and had over 100k in her savings account, bank made her open a second one as they couldnt meet FDIC rules)

Today I know that I was only half right. By expecting somebody (especially a woman) to do as much for you as you do for them is bullshit. I was correct in being angry that she didn't give a shit enough to put any thought into a gift for me...

Spending all your time and money on a woman trying to get the same thing in return was just a method for me to try to manipulate her into meeting my needs. I was afraid if I asked for my needs to be met, no matter what it was with her that she would get angry. I was a pussy because that was easier than her being mad and blaming me for every fucking fight.

I stayed with that woman for about 17 years. I always THOUGHT I was doing the right thing.

It wasnt until I was really fucked in the head from the next girlfriend, one with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, that I sought therapy and I found out I was codependent ...and it wasn't until I fixed myself.

THEN I understood that I contributed to it, because I stayed with her..., I never set boundaries, never asked nor demanded my needs be met, I never even forced her to pay for dinner, and she reluctantly did a few times or we split it. I tolerated all her shit because I THOUGHT I WAS IN LOVE.

When you finally fix all the things that are wrong in your life then it is very easy to avoid terrible women or even just avoid women altogether if that's what you want. You can't be tricked or manipulated and if a woman isn't making you happy then it is easy to get rid of the bitch.
